So yesterday while I was driving home I noticed this strange, almost grinding (not sure that’s really the best way to describe it) noise coming from my truck. To me it sounds like it’s coming from the driver front tire but my boyfriend thinks it’s coming from the engine bay. We checked last night thinking maybe it was a stripped belt that was hitting while I was driving but we didn’t see anything out of the ordinary. It only happens when I’m going 20mph+ or when I decelerate but then goes away once I get down to about 10-15mph. The truck starts/stops fine, idles normally, and brakes normally. I attached a video trying to capture the noise that it’s making. Any insight would be greatly appreciated! Not sure if it makes a difference but it’s a 2003 V8 5.3 L.

Are you getting any vibrations through the steering wheel?

Is your truck 4WD?

I actually had one of my mechanic buddies come out to do some investigating. Turns out it was my sway bar link on my driver front tire that was loose and causing the noise!
