Renumber RKE Fob?

'16 Suburban LT

I have two fobs -- one is #1 and the other #3 which means only one works with memory seat recall. Anyone know if it's possible to renumber #3 to #2? The original #2 is presumably long gone and was not part of the sale of the truck to me.

Did you check the owners manual as I believe there is a procedure for adding a FOB, if you don't have a hard copy there is one online. Good luck.

Yes I did. The only two procedures are:

1) Programming With A Recognized Transmitter (Keyless Access Vehicles Only)

2) Programming Without A Recognized Transmitter (Keyless Access Vehicles Only)

With procedure #1 it wants to add key #4, not the missing key #2 - which tells me the dealer who added key #3 never cleared the previous keys, so not only can't I add #2 but there is another key out there with access to my truck.

I can't execute procedure #2 because the truck is already linked to at least one other key.

Unfortunately I think the only option is hidden procedure #3: Have dealer (or anyone with the appropriate tool) clear all keys an re-program the two keys I have as #1 and #2.

Sounds like a Dealer trip and if you just purchased hopefully they will take care of it.

Can't imagine they won't take care of it considering the potential liability of selling me a car with at least one other fob out there with access lol
