Ugh. So I'm servicing my transmission. I got the old fluid out. Cleaned the pan went to install everything and found out I ordered the wrong filter.

I'll snap some pics of my set up for anyone who gives a shit lol
We care. Did you get a deep filter instead of the regular or something like that?

That sux. Local parts place doesn't have it in stock? Messy job, did it to my van. Which fluid did you get again?

Got the right filter. Autozone had it in stock.

I used valvoline fluid to push the old stuff off then filled it with ac delco fluid.

Side note. I think this retainer broke. I had to zip tie this part in place or the truck wouldn't go into park. Does anyone know how to fix this and what is involved?
I have no clue how this broke (I did use a pry bar to move the bracket out of the way but I never pulled this clip.

Opposite. Amazone told me I needed a shallow filter but I needed a deep.

I got a fitting off of Amazon and connected it to the top left (if you're looking at the engine) side of the radiator. Ran the line into a 5 gallon bucket then started the truck with my remote start. Once it started to bubble and gurgle I stopped it.

Then I jacked the truck up. Removed all 16 bolts (had to pry the shift bracket back a little) I did NOT have to drop the exhaust. Once the pan was off I drained the rest of the fluid in the pan into the bucket.

Then I cleaned the pan and magnet along with gasket mating surface.

I then placed the gasket on the pan put all 16 bolts in to hold the gasket. Then carefully aligned the pan. Bolted it up.

I then ran the 2 gallons of Valvoline through the transmission via the dipstick tube while the other hose was still con6to the radiator into the bucket. I did so until the fluid was bright red.

Then I topped it off with the ac delco.

Just as I finished I realized the transmission wouldn't go into park That's when I saw that the shift cable was not being held in place by that retaining clip. So I rigged up some zip ties to hold it in place until I can figure out how to fix it for good.
