Hello all, new to the forum and couldn't find the answer for my 19 yr old workhorse.
Bought a 2000 Yukon a year ago. Very happy with it but it is constantly staining my driveway and eating/leaking oil about 1 to 2 qts between 5000 mile changes. I'm using 5 qts of quaker state magnatech full synthetic 5/30 plus 1 qt Lucas synthetic oil treatment for high mileage. 180,000 on the clock now, 153,000 bought last April. Is this year/engine part of the valve cover technical bulletin, or is there another known issue with this year and engine. Thank you

Not sure about the TBS, someone should chime in, but there's lots of places for a 180k engine to leak. Clean it up well and get a good look. You'll find it. Cooler block off plate, pressure sensor, rear main area a few common spots.

put some cardboard under the truck when you park it at night then look under the truck in the morning to see where it is dripping down at. my guess would be your probably burning a little and dripping the rest, oil pan leak is common or rear main, there is a inspection plate on the bell housing you can take it off and look inside with a flashlight.

Yes, I have. Oil all over the pan, but send to be coming from higher. Cleaned up and tightened everything in easy reach. Didn't seem to help.
Honestly man, 19 years old: It could be anything.

Clean it up. Use brake clean - get not just extra grim off, but get it "dry"

From there, either let it sit or let it idle so you can see what's coming from where. Driving it would be undesirable as if you have a major leak, it would blow oil around and attract grime which would make your job that much harder

Its most likely the oil pressure sending unit. The housing develops a leak at crimps/seams. On the top rear of the engine block behind intake manifold. They are fun to get to. Enjoy! Stick your fingers back there and I bet youll feel oil in the area.
