Truck looks and sounds incredible! When you say you've never opened the trans, diffs, etc... Have you changed the fluids ever?

HiHo, LOL Oh yeah the fluids have been changed!

Met Miami-Dade on the big oil forum and that's how I got here.

Fluids are paid attention. Engine oil gets changed every 3K miles. 5.7L L05 gasoline engine gets Mobil 1 10W-30 oil and Mobil 1 M1-201 filter every time. 4L60 transmission gets new fluid and filter at 60K intervals. Other fluids are checked every couple oil changes.

One thing on the engine I did change was to install a 160 degF thermostat when I bought it. Cool transmission fluid and engine oil seems like they would last a long time. Transmission fluid never changes color.

ETA: Engine oil pressure is the same today as when I drove it off the dealer's lot twenty-seven years ago.

This Suburban is my daily driver. It's nice not having a car payment for twenty-four years.

What trans fluid and gear oil do you run in it?

Nice rig for sure. I just bought an 05 Tahoe Z71 with 258,000 miles that I just need to last for awhile so I’m even more encouraged that it will now that I see another example of these rigs going 400,000 miles or more.

Guys that do maintenance know to use GM fluids in trans and differentials. Rear differential is PosiTrac and they know about additive.
