Just curious--I've seen a few ppvs for sale that have ballistic panels, but I assume not all of them have these panels installed. Are there certain branches of police, or feds that get them? Or is it something that can just be ordered by the department? Also--what exactly is it that's ballistic proof? Door itself or some kind of steel insert between the outer door and door panel?

Never knew that. Were they like trauma plates in vests?

Actually, they weren't ballistic panels in the seat backs, but panels to make them "stab-proof". I do know that there was an option to have ballistic door panels that would stop an AK47 round.

Do you mean the plastic "wall" separating the back and front seats?
