Denali - no clutch fan

2005 Yukon Denali water pump change, noticed there are dual electric fans on radiator but no fan on water pump pully. I can’t find any videos on YouTube showing a water pump change without removing fan shroud and clutch fan. I bought the truck used so not sure if it was removed or if there were some delivered with only electric radiator fans. I have never had cooling problems. So, question is do i need to put one on or is this the correct setup?

I believe that year got a bigger radiator and electric fans. If it’s cooling well someone may have updated the system but if it ain’t broke.....

Sure would make the install easy if i don’t have to mess a fan.

05 was when e-fans replaced the clutch fan. All is well with your setup. Water pump replacement should be easier bc of this. Water pump is the same part I think; you just skip the step of removing fan shroud and fan.

job is the same, but now you dont have to fight with the dumb clutch fan. pretty easy job really.

Thank you for that! I just did the install and it was sure nice only having to remove the Airaid. I used 11 ft. Lbs. on thermostat housing, 18 ft. Lbs. on pully, and 22 ft. Lbs final pass on pump bolts. These specs were from autozone web site. Hopefully those are the correct ones. The thermostat housing spec sounded a bit light so i went to 12. I really do not enjoy thread repairs so i didn’t want to go real tight. Filled with Dexcool and All seems okay. No more leaks and heater works again.

05 was updates to efans. Makes the water pump job easier and the pump last longer. win-win, IMO

All set, OEM pump and thermostat. One of my spring clips was lost, used a regular hose clamp on upper rad hose until I can get a constant pressure. So much room without fan. I could have done it without even removing the intake. The local book labor rate for this job is obscene; glad I did it myself. I put in new heater hose Y too. i probably should have gotten a new pully in retrospect.
