For some time, I had been debating the AFM delete on my 2017 Tahoe LT. Two days ago, after a tune I DID in fact do the delete. I am here to tell you, this completely changed my truck. The performance results are amazing! Don't sleep on this. For what it's worth, I highly recommend doing this. It's worth every penny.

BlackBear provided me one tune with AFM deleted and another tune with AFM enabled with a note saying there may be 2-3 difference. I plan to drive ~500 miles with each tune and compare MPG, performance, feel, etc.

You did the delete kit, new cam and lifters and plugs, or just tuned it out? If kit which did you buy and how long did it take you and did you do it yourself? I've been wanting to do the delete for a while now because i have an AFM lifter failure fear.

Edit - I re-read and saw you did the delete "after the tune" so that answers my first question.

Yeah man I did the delete through a tune. So, sorry I can’t help with the other.

Don't lose sleep over the physical delete. The system is very reliable in those Gen V motors.

I read up on the operation of the Gen V AFM lifter design. It looks to me like they can't collapse if they are never actuated. So turning off the AFM in software should be good enough.

I second the OP's opinion regarding AFM delete (had mine done as part of a BB tune). I won't miss it. So far, my mileage is slightly better than before the tune. But the BB tune changes transmission shifting and engine performance, too. So whatever they did made up for any mileage lost when AFM was disabled.

This is likely a stupid question, but I recently bought a new 2018 Yukon Denali and was wondering if my vehicle has AFM. I can't really tell. If it does I may either buy the Range AFM delete or the BB tune. Do all new Denali's have AFM? If so, which approach do you all recommend? I'm concerned that a tune will void the warranty and with the Range I can pull it when in for service. I had a tune done in my Corvette Z06 and was warned by the dealer that it could void the warranty since they detected it. BTW, my Denali with the 6.2 engine and 10 speed tranny is awesome.
