Hi guys,

I am new to this forum. I sold my 2007 Expedition a few weeks ago and bought a 2017 Yukon SLT with 45k. It is certified used so I have bumper to bumper warranty on it.
I love the car but I realized during the recent California rain that the auto wiper is not working. I turned it on and get message ‘rain sense on’ but nothing happens. I took it to my local Gmc dealer (not where I bought the car) and they told me that I have an aftermarket windshield which is most likely blocking sensors and also voiding the warranty.
I checked other features and while collision alert and lane departure works, the adaptive cruise control doesn’t.

I went back to GMC where I got the car and they agreed to replace the windshield but ordered a PPG because they said PPG make the windshield for GM and the GM branded windshield will take at least 2 weeks to come. They are sending a mobile windshield tech to me.

1- is PPG ok?
2- will the tech know how to get my sensors connected to the new windshield?

Currently I have no light on dash or no error messages

I did do a scan and got the following errors:

U0073
U00121
U00140

Thanks

When I bought mine (used), the rainsense didn't work either. GM was no help, they wouldn't even check their end of things due to an aftermarket windshield (bastidges!). I went home and took off the covers, played with the sensor placement and got it working (I kept checking with a garden hose). Yup, no error codes or nothing. You're lucky that they are going to replace the windshield for you. I got mine from car-(not the)-max, no love there.

Thanks

I am still waiting for the windshield replacement. Did your adaptive cruise not work either?

Interested in this, just bought a 16 and adaptive cruise control isn’t working, only collision detection...No codes or error messages either.

boggy, open the glove box and make sure you have code y66 on the RPO sticker. I would then check the ACC fuse. You can find the location in the owners manual.

Looking at my rpo I should have Y66 but I have Y86 so I only have regular cruise not adaptive.

I did hear from my dealer and they will replace my windshield with a GM OEM and also have a new rain sensor.

Hopefully this will work

My Yukon is older but same wiper problem. Took to dealer they said the problem was in the housing behind the mirror back then and replaced it no problem since glad you got oem glass that way no more excuses

Thanks! Looks like I only have Y86 as well, it was sold as ACC, but oh well. I’m not sure I wouldn’t turn it off anyway...

Apologies for my resurrection of a thread one year later, but I noticed today I have a similar issue.

I've had my 2019 GMC Yukon SLT just shy of three weeks and finally realized that rain sense is not working. I took it through a car wash earlier in the day today and forgot to switch rain sense off, but didn't realize it until hours later when it was raining this evening and rain sense was doing nothing. Then I realized that it didn't work in the car wash, even though I forgot to turn it off as the manual suggests.

I do know that my lane keep assist is functional for some roads at least, and will gently steer me back into my lane if I drift on to the lane markings. My automatic high-beam headlights are also functional, as is the green or yellow light on the dash for collision avoidance and keeping proper distance from vehicles in front of me. Lastly, the front and rear parking sensors are fully functional, as is the rear cross traffic alert when reversing. So, everything else seems to be functional as far as I am aware.

I do NOT know if the low speed collision avoidance system works, as this is not something that I wanted to test out. I understand that I have set the system to beep (I selected the audible alert versus the seat vibrations in the menu) as well as apply the brakes simultaneously.

I also know that my vehicle does NOT have high speed collision avoidance, but I am not sure if I have adaptive cruise control or not? This is not a feature that I have tested either.

Is there anything in particular I should look at in regards to the rain sensing automatic wiper system? I do know how to turn it on, and have "rain sense on" correctly displaying on the dash when I do. Yet it doesn't activate the windshield wipers even with the car wash is dousing the windshield.
