2002 GMC XL Denali 150K - the truck was running fine, wife stopped at a signal, took off and it sounded crunchy almost like she was dragging something. it was she drove it easy a tenth of a mile to house. When i first drove it, it sounded like caliper dragging. Whatever it was loosened up now it a little low pitch whining only when the power is on. Power off I don't hear it.

Picked it up shock the tire top and bottom rock solid - not a wheel bearing
Brakes look brand new and I can turn the wheel by hand enough - caliper not binding
Diff front dif feels like it has fluid in it when I stick my finger in and bend it down a little.
Last month I had the fuel pump changed, radiator changed because the trans cooler was leaking into the cooling system a little.

I am way open to suggestions and if needed a suggestion for a source for a used front dif.

Change the front diff fluid and check what’s on the magnet. You sure the noise is coming from front diff and not the transfer case? Should check transfer case fluid as well.
