Water Leak through Driver Side Sun Visor

Have a 2016 Yukon. I did not notice it when I got in, so not sure if leaking prior to me starting it up and moving the vehicle. As I was driving, a slow leak of water was entering the cabin dropping from where the sun visor is connected to the vehicle ceiling on the driver side.

Plan to take it in, but not sure if anyone has dealt with the same issue.

Usually the sunroof if you have one. If not it would be the windscreen but that would be rare.

I have seen a few guys that had the shark fin antenna leaking. check there as well as sunroof

Shark fin...

Most are the shark fin.

99.9% its the shark fin. It took two trips to the dealership, before mine was leak free. When I took it in, the Silverado HD in the next bay was there for the same issue, and the loaner Suburban they gave me also was leaking, same spot, top of the driver side A pillar. Service advisor said the issue was amazingly common. The same shark fin antenna is used on all the full size SUV's and the full sized pickups too.

I have a 2015 Sierra that had a small drip that was coming from the fin - only happened once. I drained the fin by tapping on the roof in front of the fin - water came out for a fair amount of time as I sat there and tapped the roof (had to tap pretty hard, enough to deflect the metal a bit). Once that quit I let it dry for a bit then filled in the gap on the gasket - it is on the top/back side of the fin. I taped off all around it and just forced some silicone into the opening. Haven't had any issues since. If this ever fails I'll take the fin off and re-seal the entire thing, it comes out relatively easily but you have to remove some interior pieces to gain access - most notably the A pillar cover.

When I asked the dealer about mine they were willing to sell me the new style fin/gasket (for several hundred) and said they also now seal them internally. My fin was still completely functional - apparently some of the electrical components can go bad if its been water logged for a while. Mine only took a few minutes to fix myself and cost nothing - maybe I was just lucky.

My wife has a 2018 yukon - they changed the way the gasket is on (drains at the bottom / front now) and it is also supposedly sealed around the fastening nut and roof using sealant internally as well.

Kill it with fire.

Thanks all, just dropped it off this morning, so will see what they need to do to replace it.

Update - They replaced the shark fin as a warranty item. They made it sound like it has happened quite often.
