Debating on a suburban

Regarding the '15+ Suburbans and Yukon XLs, I may be tempted to get into one, but only via the used market a few years down the road.

I love cars and trucks, but regardless of what I can afford, I'm never paying $70K for a vehicle. Lol

They are quickly-depreciating items, so I'll scoop one up at a much lower price relative to its useful life. ;)

I looked for about 6 months this last year until I found my '13 LS two states over. The sticker was in the glove box, it was nearly $50k new off the lot for the previous owner. I got it for half of that 3 years later with 54k miles and still under warranty.

Suburbans and XLs are definitely the way to go. As mentioned by everyone else, the space is awesome. And, I don't know if it applies, but you're better off towing with a LWB.

Where are you located? Ill sell you mine. ;-)

Currently have an 03 burb 5.3L. I had a older burb with the 5.7 w/o spider injection. I do like the 5.3, ive replaced both types of motors and many other parts on both and find that the 03 is a simple workhorse similar to the 5.7. Only time will tell if the 5.3 will have the same reputation as the 5.7, but it looks that way. My only gripe with the 03 burb are the amount of electrical fixes ive have to do, ABS fix, DRL fix, gauge cluster fix, I would determine if the Burb in question has had any of these fixes done. I cant speak on the 6.5 but i do know that the 6.0 Gas top end is the same as the 5.3 so you could swap unless you just want the diesel power .

If you can swing a GMT900 Burb, I highly recommend them. My '13 is light years ahead of my '97 hoe and '06 TrailBlazer.
Agree. I have ‘95 K2500 (TBI BBC 454) but I’ve had a GMT900 Denali with the 6.2 for context, and I’d say take the opportunity to look for the unicorn - 2500 GMT900 suburban. They only made them through 2012.

Maybe I’m just getting old, and I love my K2500, but the GMT900’s are just so nice inside, have plenty of power. My little Tahoe sized Denali was really nice for the family to take out, and had plenty balls to haul when I needed to step on it. The weak link on them is the light duty transmission, if you can find one of the few heavy duty full sized Suburbans, you’d probably hold it forever. People just aren’t letting them go these days - pretty hard to find up here in the NW. I might let my K2500 go if I could actually find the 2500 GMT900 I’m looking for...

Whatever you do, don’t be earlier than 1996, especially if you go BBC. The 1996 were vortec, my 1995 454 is TBI, peanut port, which isn’t terrible, but definitely have a little bump in power and options with the vortec 1996 and up.

The 8.1’s are another great power option starting in (I think) 2001?

Either way, my 2 cents.

Suburban and or LWB is almost always the right answer. IF you’re asking the question of short vs. long then you need long no question. But if the thought of long never ever crossed you’re mind then you can probably get away with short...for a while.
