Should I purchase an Escalade?

Looking at replacing our 2009 Tahoe with a 2015 to 2017 Escalade ESV. I like the looks of the Escalade over the GMC and would like to have the 6.2 for pulling our boat. I have read a lot of bad reviews. Don't know if it's just people pissed off or if the Escalade is really that bad. Looking for some guidance from you guys. Thanks

We get this question about once a week whether it is a Chevy, GMC or Cadillac. Test drive and look at the overall condition to see if it was taken care of. Check with a GM Dealer for service records and look at the Carfax for accidents and service performed, how many previous owners and if it was a rental. When you do your test drive check for booming and buffeting. If you are not sure what this is just do a Google search. Some feel it and some don't and some vehicles have and some don't. Drive at least 75mph. Try to purchase a CPO. Good luck with your search. Overall they are great vehicles.

I had a 2007 Escalade for years. We went to buy a new one and had a bad experience at the Cadillac delaership and walked out.

We drove a 2018 Tahoe 6.2 RST and its now sitting in my garage. It drives better with the suspension tuning in this package ,,,,,, to me anyway,,,,, opinions vary. I like the sporty feel, over the softer ESKY.

It wasnt all that much cheaper in purchase price, but my insurance went DOWN from a $ 15,000 Escalade to a $ 80,000 Tahoe. Go figure.

It would have gone up another $ 800 with the new Esky. 48 years old,,, married,,,, great driving record.

IMO there's more problems with the 8-speed transmission than the 6-speeds found in the early 2015's (I think) and the 10-speeds in the 2018+ (much better). If you do get one with an 8-speed, try to get one with some warranty left just in case. Also consider the dealer, the Suburban RSTs, and the 2018+ Navigator L's.

Got a brand new '17 escalade last year, blue with kona interior. Absolutely LOVE it, no problems, interior is quiet, ride is smooth, gear shifts are smooth and it looks phenomenal.

Get one.

Save up and get the 2018! I own a 2017 and love it, had a 2018 as a loaner, and it was much better driving experience. The car feels a lot faster with the 10 gears and better tuning.

Though the Escalades do not come with the brake controller for trailers, so you may want to look into a Tahoe if you want that feature.

I also own a 2010 Escalade which I believe is the same shape as your 2007, the new body is better in every way except for the exhaust note. I miss the throaty exhaust

Is you’re insurance ridiculously high as a prior poster stated?

A lot of folks miss the older 6.2 exhaust note (on Denali and Esky), but most seem to agree that the GM Borla exhaust that the dealer can instal “fixes” that. Maybe you should think about that.

No, believe it or not, my insurance was actually cheaper buying the Escalade over the Tahoe. By a significant amount too! I think it has to do with insurance stats, your avaerage Escalade driver is probably some 70 year old man, that isn’t heavy on the pedal, vs the whole gamut of Tahoe drivers.
