Connectivity issues with phone through usb

When I plug my iPhone in to the usb plug in the center console it sometimes connects to the radio and I can play music and at other times it does not, and only just starts charging. Any rhyme or reason for this?

I have had similar issue but not in a while, I would guess just a glitch...When starting vehicle let it become fully operational 10 15 seconds then plug in.

I figured out that I have to start playing something on my iPhone and then plug it in to the USB which stops the song playing then lock the screen unlocked the screen and then push play again. That’s the trick lol
