Depends on where you live. If the wheels are seeing snow/salt then they will corrode faster than dry weather area. Unless you are buying Forgiato's or Konig's (think $1k+ per wheel),the typical $300~$500 wheel will only hold up so well for so long. I am keeping my OEM wheels for the winter and the nice ones for summer. On my avalanche I bought a set of 20" Yukon wheels. They already had corrosion on them when I bought them but I put the factory 17" wheels back on each winter. It slowed the deterioration of the Denali 20's cause they only had to deal with wet. Meanwhile my 17's had seen a lot better days. Both wheels were OEM.
I have replica wheels on my TA and its a garage queen. Even those wheels show signs of corrosion and they have about 10k miles on them over the last 14 years. The moisture in the air alone is enough to do damage. And my garage is climate controlled. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
