jpcortese, I have read that they take trades but are a little low on value for trades. You won't know until you ask but the discounts are great.

Do you know, or does anyone else know if Laura takes trade-in's? I have a low miles 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit I'd like to trade. BTW, I'm in Naperville, not too far from Bartlett. Also, what's the procedure for working with Laura? Do I just call them and tell them what I want and if so, how do you pay the vehicle? Will they take a credit card deposit followed by a check when I get down there?

I had a 2008 Hummer H2 that was absolutely mint (I'm OCD when it comes to my vehicles) with low miles and while I understand it's tough to give trade in quotes, they lowballed me pretty good. They told me that once they saw the vehicle in person (despite me sending a ton of high quality, detailed photos) they would maybe put some extra $$$$ in it. I knew if I drove all the way down there with my trade they had me at a disadvantage. I purchased the new Denali first and then sold my Hummer locally to CarMax who gave me a stellar number. I can't remember is I ended up giving them a deposit up front via CC but I wrote them a check when I got there. Pretty much any dealer will take a deposit via CC.

Laura seems to have embraced the volume model, where they put really good prices out there, people all over the country see them, they spend comparatively little time with any given customer. Their margin per vehicle is probably below average but their volume and conversion rate I bet is very high, so they do well.

From what I can tell, there is no "gotcha" there. I was going to use them but a local dealer came close enough to their price to make it worth my while not to bother with the plane trip. If you can get a reasonably solid quote out of them, maybe show it to one of your locals to see if they can soften their position a little.

Otherwise, St. Louis is, what, 6 hours from Chicago?

My wife and I had a discussion yesterday and she has decided we should get a 2018 Yukon Denali. So I spoke to my local GMC dealer where we had test drove it and he wouldn't come down more that 5% from msrp. So I checked with several other GMC dealers in the area and it looks like 5% off is pretty standard now. Then a friend suggested Laura GMC near St. Louis and they seem to be in the 10% off msrp range. Has anyone dealt with Laura? Is there a reason why they undercut my local Chicago land dealers? Are there any differences between their in stock Denali's and the ones locally? It would be a 5 hour drive for me so I would prefer to buy locally, but would take the drive for the lower price. Could anyone recommend a Chicago dealer I should talk to? Denali's are not in short supply so I wonder why they are not willing to negotiate further. Also, since I'm in no particular hurry should I wait for end of model year sales? Sorry for all the questions but would like some advice.
None..i tried many. I had to travel to Wisconsin to find the best deal, no one here in Illinois would match

They will take a deposit over the phone. They take trades as well just bring it in and they will make take a look and make you an offer. Since you are within driving distance should not be a problem. I'm thinking about trading my 16 Yukon SLT shortie for a 2018 or 2019 XL. Since I live in Baltimore I'll have to either drive 12 hours or sell oi myself.
