Hello all,

took the Tahoe on a road trip to Mnt Rushmore, she behaved pretty well :) A few things/questions though;

- It appears I have a water leak, somewhere near the D-pillar on the passenger side. I noticed that after a nice SD drizzle. It's a little weird though, it sat in pretty good rain storms outside my house without an issue. I wonder if taking the boot between the tailgate and car off has something to do with that. Also, one of the license plate lights is on intermittently, I wonder if putting that camera in, did something to that harness part in the tail gate.

- Apparently the NAV radio displays alerts, when running out of gas, it was sort of an "oh sh*t" experience, since I was just driving out of the desert and no gas stations around closer than 60 miles. (I used to always fill up my car before I did that, but hey... a Tahoe has a 26 gallon tank, and it's barely half empty.
Q: how many miles can you still drive, after the "low fuel" warning comes on? (there's a chime, the fuel gauge lights up, and as I said the NAV radio displays stuff (like "display gas stations in area")

- Mine, like probably all SSVs/PPVs has that rubber flooring, also in the back. That stuff apparently is so slick (I noticed that before) Nothing stays in the same spot, things slide around, consequently fall over etc. Did anyone come up with a solution or that? (sort of a mat, insert?) I tried these rubber/silicone 'liners' that I use in my tool-chest (on wheels). That doesn't seem to work.

- Also, the mirror with LCD is a lot more practical and easier to use than the display on the radio, I noticed (because you have to take your eyes away from everything else looking at the radio display.) The only thing that at first is a little odd is to focus on the LCD screen in the mirror, and the mirror itself.. but one gets used to it (probably just an "old guys thing" *lol*)

Ron

PS: oh also, that wireless charger I built into the center console lid works really well.. also for launching your cell phone somewhere between the front and rear seats, because you need something from the center console and forgot your phone is in that tray.

But really relating, butel tape is your friend. If you've had to hack your license plate bracket/light assembly for the camera, I'd take it apart and hopefully it will be evident where the water is coming in. I'd seal everything up with butel, just a thin stream of it but enough to complete the seal between the surfaces. Yeah, a silicon will work......but butel can easily be removed, where silicon might not be so easy to clean up.

The boot should be really clear to tell if it has moisture in it, it should be dry and powdery.....and have a chalky appearance. Those boots shouldn't be a clean black at all.

how are the holes on the roof sealed? or if you even have any... The d pillar leak could be coming from either standing water accumulating or holes further up front that flow toward the rear as the weight shifts by driving the car. Also check the rear trunk to see how the wires are run to the outside, sometimes the LED light bars are mounted under the rear spoiler and the wiring might not have been properly sealed or ran.
