I have a nice alpine unit in this car I just got a bit ago. The PO had an XM installed and ran a 3.5mm jack to it somehow (no input on the front) and said the radio was working. I get no audi regardless of input, volume or mute button selection. I also noticed that the tweeters were missing from the door speakers.
I think what I need to do is plan on replacing all the door speakers, wiring the radio properly as something is odd about how it starts and shuts down.

I am good with wiring, but ignorant with car audio. I need suggestions as to new speakers, speaker wires, testing audio output of current head unit and the speaker wires. Thanks

Also, it would help if I knew which wires the ignition + and constant + are. Maybe I am not getting audio because those are swapped or something.

if the original radio harness is still present behind the radio then you can just buy a new adapter and the adapter diagram will show all the corresponding vehicle wiring for testing speakers and etc, or you could try looking up the gm upfitter guide online and it will show all the related wiring. the Inifiniti Kappa series are good speakers they seem to hold up pretty well but if your stock system has Bose you may want to stick with those there kind of hard to beat in aftermarket setups without spending some hard earned money.

Guessing from your description your aftermarket radio is hardwired in. If so you would be best to find a factory plug in a salvage yard and you can wire that back in and use an adapter. Depending on the system you have there could be amps to worry about or wiring that wasn't duplicated correctly, hosts of other issues could be an issue also. I would say lets start by seeing how the aftermarket radio is wired in and go from there.

Thanks. No Bose decals, so I assume I have the basic speakers. I will look at Infinity Kappa. I will have to pull the radio, but I found wiring trimmings in the floor board and they did not come from under the steering column as I had all that apart a few days ago to fix my tow/haul button wiring. So I assume the radio was butchered in just like everything else on this truck.

Trimmings could be from adapter too.
