Is anyone ponying up the $160.00 for the nav update?
I got an email from Chevy about it. I usually just use google maps and don't use the built in nav

I've thought about it too, I also use Google maps through Android Auto.

I always use Maps because it gives real-time traffic reports and is always up to date. Kind of sad that I have a built in navigator but prefer my iPhone. I have a phone holder that suctions right to the window when I need it. Plus the maps actually look better.

Why don't you just plug your iPhone into the USB ports and use Apple car Play? I I use Android Auto on mine and my phone sits inside my console and can have it send voice texts and everything and never have to touch my S7 Edge

I would LOVE to use CarPlay, but my '08 Yukon Denali is not compatible. I have my factory navigator, all that wonderful Bose, entertainment package, etc., fully loaded, but as with all things, cool technology progressions continue to happen and my built in nav maps continue to age. That's why sometimes it's just easier to go with Maps on my iPhone and not worry about upgrading the nav software. Maps is so user-friendly. I use it everywhere, especially on trips in rental vehicles. That said, I still love my Denali at 115K with all its comfort and bells and whistles... now if only it drank less gas - lol!

Do you have use the USB ports or will it do the same using Bluetooth? I would like to use the Google Maps app on the iPhone 7 instead of the built in Navigation.

Apple car play isn't compatible with google maps. You'll have to use Apple maps

Darn, I am used to using Google Maps on the iPhone and have just been leaving it on the console. The voice directions do come through the sound system via Bluetooth, but it would be nice to have the screen view on the console.
What is OnStar adding to the navigation? All I can see is the red line on the high traffic areas, and constant notification of construction on roads that was completed 6 months ago.
I am thinking I should cancel that feature of OnStar.

I consider upgrading my head unit to navigation if I could use WAZE on it.

Wake is going to start running on Google maps soon. I think they’re doing beta tests now and I use Google maps via Android Auto and love it. I also have the factory nav but usually use Android Auto .
