In the Jeep Wrangler world you can go to a website punch in the Vin and you get the built sheet on the spot.

GM should have something like that.

I was told my my 2000 Yukon XL was too old, but if I wanted to pay $50, I could get it from a third party website.

+1 for Compnine. Been using them for years and lots faster than trying to decode yourself and the terminology is often different. Some cars, they even have data on how many other cars like yours were produced with that same rpo code.

Also use it when considering a used car/truck purchase. With the VIN and compnine, I didn't have to rely on the dealer for accuracy with regards to what options originally came on the car.

Good idea, I didn't think of doing in that at the time.

Anytime I pick up a new vehicle, I hit the internet to check the RPO codes. Find some pretty interesting things in there sometimes. I also do this when I look at buying a vehicle sometimes.

Really?? Did not know that. Ofcourse in my case, I don't really need to go through the effort. I have the basic Sport model. Only thing I decoded, was the gears. I can look at the rest for all I need to know. I didn't want all the power accessories, leather, or hard top. It's a Jeep! What the hell do you need all that for?! ;)

Never heard of Compnine until this thread. It definitely has to be faster, and you are absolutely correct on terminology varying. Definitely not good to rely on a dealer to know what the hell is going on with that specific vehicle. Most salesmen have no clue what they are selling. :Big Laugh:

The guy I chatted with gave me a link to a place that re prints the dealer window stickers, unfortunately, they didn't offer 2009 for some reason.
