Check your battery first. Is the truck charging hard when it's running properly? Does the gauge plummet when the idle is low, or just before the idle drops? Yes that is indeed the edge of the aluminum radiator core. It's sort of irritating that mine came assembled and yours didn't. I'll have to remember that when ordering parts online - I would be furious, if positions were reversed. Sent from my SM-S727VL using Tapatalk- Splorg

Never mind, I see it. Only thing that comes to mind is that the spring clips that came with the new rad were of a slightly different shape than the factory ones. Thanks for all the tips and hints! It went in without any real issues, which surprised me. I do however either I would have flushed the thing - the old radiator must have weighed 15 lbs more than the OEM replacement of the same design, which makes me wonder what on Earth kind of dirt is floating...- Splorg

Battery is always dead.
If the battery is new and you don't want to invest in a draw meter, use a multimeter to measure the amperage drawn from the battery (I'd suggest alligator clips) and start pulling a fuse at a time. When the amps drawn drops significantly you've found your current draw. Troubleshoot from there...- Splorg

Glad to hear you think you've gotten it licked! Not sure what the other guys experience is, but my Yukon can sit and idle for quite a long time and not generate heat. 4WD not engaged when indicated
