I'm working on replacing the pitman arm on my 2004 Z71 Tahoe. I was able to get the old Pitman arm off yesterday but ended up rounding a couple of the points on the pitman shaft nut - the one that holds the splined end to the steering box.
Its Monday morning and I'm stuck at work but thought...
Just got my 2004 Z71 a month or so ago w 190K mi on it. I was experiencing wandering/clunky steering and also seemed to have lots of free play in the steering wheel.
Adjusting the steering box 1/4 turn took care of most of the free play in the steering wheel - thanks to the OP for the info...
Hacking up the stock bezel worked out better than I thought it would...
Here is the back - needs some de-burring
Radio & bracket in the tray. Radio bracket will be attached to bottom of upper tray
All put together - no signs of hacking
That is an option, however, with a full-time (And then some) job and a family I don't have a lot of spare time on my hands so I thought if something was already available I could buy/modify and save some time.
My IC-2000 will fit in my console about like your Yaesu does (nice radio BTW), snug...
Does anyone know if there are any factory or aftermarket alternatives for the "smoker's package" upper bezel insert?
Ideally, I'd like a smooth plate that is contoured to fit the dash to replace the bezel insert with. I plan to install a 2 meter ham radio transceiver in this location but...
I second this motion.
I Had similar problems in the past with my Dodge Dakota and doing exactly these things solved the problems. I've also had problems with dry/sticky caliper pins on multiple Toyotas and am now in the habit of checking them on all of my vehicles twice a year.
This is a tough call. Based on what you have told us here I'd lean slightly toward the Highway unit.
You didn't say but I'd assume the highway truck was owned and maintained by the state or at least a larger agency than the second truck. This may depend on your state but in my experience a...
It doesn't sound like you need a newer vehicle right now so you have some time to shop around. You may be able to find something just as good as your friend's for less $$$. Or even use a comparable vehicle you find as a bargaining tool to get your friend to drop his price if he's willing to do...
My wife and I both have fuel efficient Toyota Corolla commuter cars for our long commutes but we like to have a bigger third vehicle to use as a backup in case one of those cars goes down and for hauling around our kayaks and camping gear in the summer. For years we relied on my old 2001 Dakota...
Hi guys - just checking in from CT. I just picked up a 2004 Tahoe Z71 as a weekend/backup vehicle for the family. I've been driving Dodge Dakotas for 25 years now so the Tahoe is quite a bit of a paradigm shift for me but so far I'm loving it!
My truck has about 187,000mi on it but is in very...
