    Real Life MPG 5.3 / 6.2

    2021 5.3 the last 16k miles the dash computer says 18.5. That's around town w some freeway and with the start/stop turned off. I'm happy.

    Which build months are safe from lifter problems?

    I pressed my GMC service writer to hazard a guess as to what percentage of Yukons have the dreaded failures. He guessed 5% for the 5.3L and 10% for the 6.2L. He emphasized he was guessing.

    1 yr 18k Miles No Issues

    I'm a few days from one year with my SLT 5.3 and will be at 14k miles. Zero issues. And decent mpg. I'm happy.

    Break in oil changes.

    IMO, we're just wasting unrenewable resources to change earlier than the manufacturer says to. Trust the science.

    2021 Tahoe with 6k miles mine has already had a head off

    The bad valve springs are from June 1, 2020 to Oct 7, 2020. See attached. I'd like to know the dates for the bad lifters.

    If I'm reading the attached file correctly, it looks like the affected valve springs in the 5.3 is from June 1, 2020 to October 7, 2020.

    How about some gas mileage reports?

    2021 GMC 5.3 Liter with 8k miles. My dash says 19.1 since new. I get a true 20.0 on a long road trip (using GPS miles and gallons pumped).

    I wonder why if the 5.3 breaks a valve spring just that one spring is to be replaced. But with the 6.2 if one spring breaks all 16 are to be replaced. Why?

    I bought my 21 Yukon in Idaho and live in Washington state. The build sheet on mine says: Emissions Override, Federal CT/MA/MD/ME/NJ/NY/OR/PA/RI/VT/WA Emissions Ask the dealer 1000 miles away for clarification on the emissions.

    What gas mileage are we getting on the 21s?

    My recent 2500 mile highway trip in our '21 5.3L showed the dash MPG is about 0.3 mpg optimistic ... or happy. :) That's closer than other cars I've owned in the last several years.

    New Yukon tomorrow

    I like the styling of the new Yukon and the SLT. This is last Saturday when I picked it up at the dealer. The dark walnut / slate interior: The Little Woman is happy ... and that's all that matters, right? ;)
