I believe my front differential mounts are shot....got a quick question

Thanks. Due to the nature of the sound, I'm likely to "shop" stealerships to see what their diagnosis costs would be to help me land the real issue. With 203K miles, I'm not a fan of replace and pray. I want to nail the issue first try and unfortunately, I can't hang under the vehicle while...

I believe my front differential mounts are shot....got a quick question

So I posted on another thread what could be the cause of a slight thud when off the power and the trans downshifts. Like 4th to 3r and even 3rd to 2nd or 1st. It's almost always power off that you hear/feel the low thud. I have NO slipping on the trans. I've changed its oil every 30K (full...

    2008 Rear Suspenssion Noise

All bushings look good. I need to pull the rear wheels to check the parking brake shoe. I bet that is what it is. I've never replaced it nor really inspected it.

    2008 Rear Suspenssion Noise

All excellent feedback. I will be under it this weekend doing that full inspection. May likely be multiple new parts/bushings. Many miles/years things will get worn and soft rubber becomes crusty.

    2008 Rear Suspenssion Noise

Folks: My trusty 2008 Denali XL now has 202,200 miles on it. Motor and transmission going strong. I have a consistent rear main seal leak that I just "deal" with as I don't really want to do all the work to replace it. Well, there is a new potential issue that I don't think I should deal...

Oil leaking options...hear me out first

iamdub: Thanks for your details. Great pics. That shows me exactly where the sensor is. I am NO fan of replace and pray. I like to find issues, diagnose them then address/repair. So I wish I could clean all around and even at the sensor but I do think I can't get to it with the starter there...

Oil leaking options...hear me out first

Do any of you know what’s above the starter motor? I really do see most of it around the motor and wonder if there is something above it. I will buy the die kit and try that but I fear it will be coming from above the starter and so perhaps have to remove it to see what’s above. My current...

Oil leaking options...hear me out first

I’ll take a look there but the oil sender unit is on the driver side and most of my leaks are on passenger near the starter motor. But it’s a process of elimination. I know.

Oil leaking options...hear me out first

Folks: So 2008 6.2L is going strong. Past year it does leak when oil is hot and all around the engine block (back side) by drain plug, starter motor and oil filter. I replaced my drain plug. I've replaced the oil pickup gasket last year, which required oil pan being dropped. I put new oil...

Which mounting brackets do I replace?

I have a hunch those are the cause. I remember looking them over and when I would rotate the tires they would let the diff move a bit. I don't know HOW much is TOO much but it moves and I could get it to almost hop a bit...which is probably the cause of my clunk. I'll check out the cost for...

Which mounting brackets do I replace?

Good points. I recall, when I was changing oils (front diff, transfer, tranny, etc) I did have play in my front diff. I also inspected my drive shaft u-joints and they have no slop. I recall being able to get the front to move up and down so maybe its mounts are gone. I’ve removed it...

Which mounting brackets do I replace?

Wife’s ‘08 with 200k has been making a consistent downshift thud for over 4 years. Sound like it may be a transmission mount. Both motor mounts have been replace(2 years ago). Wondering how many mounts the transmission has and if it could also be from the transfer case. you mostly hear it...

Seeking prefered methods to catch dripping oil

Folks: Our beloved 2008 Denali XL just likes to drip oil. She has 198K and I know my rear main seal is likely the culprit. Drips about 3 or 4 drops when hot, after you pull it into the garage. I bought some tinfoil turkey basins often used during Thanksgiving when bird cooking. It collects...

Trouble removing front differential fill plug

Don't think so. I bought a new replacement plug cause I stripped this one badly....I have the new one in my hand. I've confirmed the replacement has normal "Lefty loosey and righty tighty" threads.
