Allright, I finally got everything finished. My only regret is I lost a screw on finish back into the door. Wasn't going to take it apart again lol. I chose to block off the passenger side door lock. The paint matches pretty damn good.
Not too shabby for spray paint on my patio I think.
I finally got a break in the weather and was able to paint my door handles. I think Automotive Touchup Paint Co. shorted me paint. An entire can was spent painting only 2 door handles. I have 12 oz can's of spray paint that I've painted entire bike frames with multiple coats and I still have...
The parts were some wire I had sitting around. One was 14ga and the other was 16ga lol. But it all works! Some male and female connectors to make a quick release for the switch if needed. Heat shrink and electrical tape. OH and some wire conduit or whatever its called to cover the wires.
The...
Thought I'd post an update. I installed a kill switch today which wasn't too hard but took a lot longer than I thought it would.
Hopefully the paint will show up tomorrow and I can get the handles prepped and ready for installation.
So I'm just waiting on paint now. I bought the ready for paint OEM handle for the drivers side. QQ do I have to hit that with primer or does it come with some sort of coating from the factory to promote paint adhesion?
And I'm definitely looking at getting a kill switch installed. Right now I'm...
I don't think I'll do the Jimmy Jammers, but I def will take a page from their book and use some clamps to help secure the lock cylinders in place.
Now I'm just waiting for parts and paint.
Well I hit up the junkyard and wow. These are popular parts! Every compatible drivers side door handle on the lot was already pulled lol! No color match door handles for me. :(
I plan on blocking off the passengers side lock so I grabbed a black passenger side w/no door lock and also another...
Thanks for all the advice guys. I found a junkyard that might have a set in the same color already. Its a pull and save so if it hasn't been picked I could save a ton of $$ and get a practice round lol
Nope, they seem to have ran away before they could do any further harm. My center console was gone through and they looked under the back seat where the prev owner had an amp.
I looked up some paint and the oem door handles are available at Rockauto for about $45 each and autopaint depot has paint for $53. It looks like the lock cylinder set is only $89. I suppose a locksmith could key the locks for me and that would be it.
I just have such bad luck with panels and...
There's like no damage at all, just the lock cyclinders have been popped out or in or however that works lol.
Heres pics
and the other door..
they both work, the locks work with the keyfob. It looks like to me that I just need new lock cylinders.
So someone tried to steal my 03' Tahoe the other night. They popped both door handle locks but managed to not steal of further damage the truck.
I took it to the dealership to get an estimate on repair. I was quoted $900 to replace the lock cylinders and door handles.
Now I know thats red hot...
OP here. I just wanted to say, yea you have to add the extra resistors. I actually bought and installed the recommended control module as well. And imo that was unnecessary since it works just fine with the resistors. They were like $8 on ebay.
Also I only had to add 1 resistor, not one on each...
