I am heartbroken...the end of an era is upon me...

Thank you all for sharing back. It really helps me cope. The old guy is still getting my daughter to and from work but she doesn't even want to tell me about new things now. Picking up my late mom's 2008 DTS from my dad this weekend (only 30,000 miles on it) so we can finally out the old boy to...

I am heartbroken...the end of an era is upon me...

On January 30th of 1998, I drove off the lot in my 97 Tahoe with 32 miles on it. Over 25 years and 300,000 miles later, I still have it, but the old guy is just not what he used to be. :( My daughter drives it now, but there are so many things. There is major squeaking and grinding from the...

    Battery hold down bolt snapped

Until I get the time and tools (and weather!) to do any of this could I use a ratchet strap or something? Is that ill advised?

    Battery hold down bolt snapped

Yes - replacing the tray I think is a no go. Saw a video and a couple of the bolts are in "take the truck apart to get to these" locations. Plus the rust...

    Battery hold down bolt snapped

I was just wondering if there was an easier way. I've never drilled a bolt out like that and don't have a tap.

    Battery hold down bolt snapped

There's a nut welded to the underside of the tray. That's where the bolt sheared off. Can't replace that with home depot unless I drill out the entire thing and then have something to fill that hole (some big fender washers??).

    Battery hold down bolt snapped

Didn't grab a pic because I was so disgusted but the bolt is sheared off right even with the tray. (I'll try and get some later). A replacement tray itself isn't very expensive but at just shy of 300K miles and over 25 years of living in Michigan, I worry about what would happen trying to get...

    Battery hold down bolt snapped

It snapped off even with the tray. Nothing to grab onto because there's a nut on the under side of the tray. I'm guessing the right way to do it would be to try and drill the bolt out but hoping there's an easier way? Right now the battery is held down with a bunch of zip ties

    Battery hold down bolt snapped

Was pulling the battery to get to the bulb and the hold down bolt was so rusted it snapped on me. I just replaced the battery a couple of years ago with no issues so this was a surprise. What the heck can I do?

Won't start after a dead battery

The starting problem resolved with replacing the battery terminal bolts (see 3 posts up). I can't remember the draw though.

    Fuel Pump Relay issue...maybe?

Thanks for looping back!! Did you do the work yourself? Also, exactly which injector did you use?

Hard Starts, Fuel Pressure, and a Verizon Hum

It had been in for 4 years. Never was a problem. Might not have even been a problem with this either. Just trying to sort everything out.

Hard Starts, Fuel Pressure, and a Verizon Hum

They provide location and diagnostic type info. Kind of like a cheaper version of what onstar does only for aftermarket.

Hard Starts, Fuel Pressure, and a Verizon Hum

I wanted to start a new thread because the previous one was so long and things have changed (but aren't resolved). To recap, I had a long standing hard start issue when it was warm. If it was cold (eg overnight), no issue. But if it ran for a bit, then sat for an hour or two, I would get a hard...
