what useful items do you carry in your SUV?

Fire extinguisher!!!! I've had three different occasions over the years where my on-board fire extinguisher averted a total vehicle loss. Once was in a crowded parking lot where adjacent vehicles could have easily also been lost.

    TPMS Sensors

TPMS batteries are a puzzle to me. The one in the rear wheel of my 2016 motorcycle is dead at 32,000 miles. The OEM batts are still working in my 2006 Corvette after 70,000 miles. Ditto still working in my 2008 truck after 130,000 miles. Wonder if it's miles or age that does 'em in?

Spark Plug Fun - 2017 GMC Yukon Denali XL

I had so much trouble just getting the wires loose from the plugs that I gave up after three, and paid my local shop to do the other 5. Decided I was too old for all that trouble and contorting.

    So this isn’t good, right?

After 180,000 miles? It would have to be a lot bigger leak than that before I'd mess with it. Why not just drive it until you need to add oil, then dig into it? It might very well go another 180 as it is. Just keep an eye on it, and keep the underside cleaned off once in a while.

    AFM / DOD Delete

    Or, for a '16 model, use M5.

2021 Yukon Denali - Sudden, Unexpected Slowdown from 67 to 50mph

My '16 has "lane keep assist" (LKA) that auto corrects steering if you start to stray out of your lane. I was driving around Birmingham, in left outside lane of 6-lane I-459, with a semi to my right. The semi drifted into my lane. I reacted by quickly veering to my left. The LKA sensed my...

Most miles with stock AFM system?

Hey, gang, I really do appreciate everybody's participation. But what I was really trying to get at was how many miles WITHOUT reprogramming, and WITHOUT retrofitting. I was curious to hear how many miles with OEM equipment, using AFM just like it came from the factory: FACTORY STOCK. I was...

Most miles with stock AFM system?

Thanks for all the responses. I have inferred that sometimes there are lifter failures in spite of a program or a chip; that the only way to be certain to avoid failure is to retrofit. Would that be accurate?

    TRANSMISSION OIL CHANGE

I followed the schedule in the owners manual: 100,000 miles.

Changing flat tire, lug nut removal?

In my experience, AAA has been worthless. Final straw was when I waited 2 hrs for a tow, and was finally told by AAA on phone that they did not have any "authorized" tow services in my area, and that I'd have to find one on my own. I called the guy that the sheriff's deputy had recommended 2...

Most miles with stock AFM system?

Yep, good to know. I was just curious as the whether any holdouts had accumulated as much miles as I have while still running the stock system. I probably should have realized that it is highly unlikely that anyone still running the OEM system will ever see this thread. I'll be surprised if I...

Most miles with stock AFM system?

I read a lot about deactivating the stock AFM system because of the many reports of trouble. But I often wonder who has accumulated the most trouble-free miles while running the OEM system. I have 114,000 on my '16 Tahoe, and no trouble yet (fingers still crossed).

Changing flat tire, lug nut removal?

A more difficult chore for many would be lifting the heavy spare, and mounting it on the hub. That's the hardest part for me.
