front wheel hub bearing question (when to replace)

The right front bearing on my ‘09 with 125K was going bad and I could feel the vibration when I got up around 65-70mph. I thought it might be struts, but my mech replaced the bearing and all rides smoothly now. The one part I’m hesitating to replace is the squeaky power steering pump, which my...

2012 Tahoe LT/Tire Air Sensor and Remote Control Problems

Okay, thanks for the info. I think this is one for the shop!

2012 Tahoe LT/Tire Air Sensor and Remote Control Problems

I’m an amateur mechanic, having wired my trailer hot wire, replaced the turn signal stalk and replaced an alternator. Is a tpms sensor something I can do myself?

2012 Tahoe LT/Tire Air Sensor and Remote Control Problems

I have the same problem, but different results. My tpms service light is on constantly and dic says to service it. So I did the relearning procedure and all but one valve chirped okay. Interestingly, the three that chirped all seem to be newer valves. Does that mean I can just have that one...

Start Towing with 114K miles on my Yukon?

So you’re clear on connecting the hot wire under the hood to get power to the inside of your trailer? This connection is not to power the trailer running lights, but to power things inside your trailer and charge your auxiliary battery while you’re traveling. The wire is coiled up near all the...

    2wd vs. 4wd - 2021 yukon

I think you’ve done a great job evaluating your needs and driving conditions, and the opinions by everyone here. I’ve had all different drive trains here in Wisconsin...front, rear, awd, 4wd...and it really depends on the conditions. I’m a skier and use to venture into snow frequently, thus I...

    Whine from engine

I had the same sound issue. Turned out to be the ps pump. My mechanic has the same 09 Tahoe as mine and has had the same whine for years....says it’s common and doesn’t effect the steering at all. My opinion is it’s not a problem until it becomes a problem, and you don’t want that when you’re...

    Whirring noise after alternator change

It’s been a while since I visited here, due to a family emergency. But the power steering pump is definitely where the whining is coming from per my mechanic. He said he has the same 2009 Tahoe as mine and his has whined for years with no steering problems. He also said it’s a 2 1/2 hour job...

    Whirring noise after alternator change

Well I got a new idler as the low cost starting point, and the noise actually became a little more pronounced. So listened intently again, all around that side of the engine, and now it sounded more like it was coming from the steering pump just below the alternator. Turned the steering wheel...

    Whirring noise after alternator change

Okay, I’ll try to make a deal with Advance on an idler and tensioner, on the condition that if those don’t give me a remedy, they refund the alternator and I go a different route. They DID try to help with the brand new alternator, but it’s no solution if all CarQuest alternators are junk.

    Whirring noise after alternator change

Took the belt off and the whirring went away. Tried a brand new belt and noise still there-no difference. Then checked the tensioner and idler and both had a tiny bit of play, but not enough for me to feel it’s those. They both turned smoothly. Wouldn’t they be noisy no matter what the rpm...

    Whirring noise after alternator change

It’s not through the radio speakers at all, and is less audible when I’m under the hood because of all the other engine noises, but it is there. The first replacement alternator had a somewhat rough pulley so I exchanged it for one with a nice smooth pulley, but the noise is still there, maybe...

    Whirring noise after alternator change

I have developed a whirring noise after replacing my alternator in my 09 Tahoe LTZ. It goes away in neutral and park, and after acceleration, but gets a bit louder when a load is placed on the electrical system(lights, heater, a/c) when in drive or reverse and brake on(idling at stop sign with...

Windshield wipers very slow/stop on 2009 Tahoe-wiper linkage

If your wipers seem to be getting slower, or even come to a stop, it may not be the wiper motor. I did all the testing of the wiring and switch, and thought for sure I needed a new motor. But when I finally got the motor out(you have to remove the whole linkage to remove it), I found the...

How do you test 2009 Tahoe front wiper motor/wiring

Thanks for the diagrams, they were helpful in checking the wiper motor wiring. Thing is, when I finally got the motor out(have to take the whole wiper linkage out), I found the motor is fine but the linkage is seized! So off to the parts shop to get the Dorman linkage. It appears the Dorman...
