update: a lot has happened since i made this post on Treadwright tires and just would like to make an update now. in 2017 i bought two more Treadwrights since 2 of the original ones i had bought were worn down. the ones with Kedge. the ones i ordered this time i did not get Kedge since the...
I have been trying to find the RPO code for 3.73 and cant find one. that is my luck. I will probably just have to look in a different town for someone to rebuild the one i have to 3.73.
1996 Tahoe
I had my rear end gears swapped to 3.73 and absolutely love the new feel while driving it. i had 3.42 and with 260K miles it was a turtle.
my question is how rare is it to have 3.73 from the factory in a front diff to fit my '96? I want to find a unit from a junk yard instead...
if i swap from my stock 3.42 to 3.73 gears do i have to do anything else? programming etc ?
i went ahead an ordered a set of yukon 3.73 for my rear. I am going to rebuild my rear completely so i just thought i might as well go down one size. don't reckon it will make that big of a difference...
you are right. lol
the part that isn't funny is after waiting over 3 weeks and the mechanic not touching it i picked it up and went to another shop and they tell me they are booked up over 3 weeks themselves and that what i am needing done is to much to do all at once. so i asked him to put me...
my switch would blink off and i had to buy a used switch off ebay to replace it. once replaced it didn't go off again.
do you have a field somewhere you can spin in some? or a gravel road ? it doesn't have to be much just to make sure its working.
did he removed brakes and check condition of the tube end?
you should find RPO code in glove box that will tell you what gear you have i.e. GU6 is 3.42 and GT4 is 3.73 and GT5 is 4.10 if is has another number G80 it is a mechanical locker type also.
i bet the tube is messed up from axle...
found a truetrac on Jegs for $388 with free shipping. should be here wednesday.
mechanic has been busy and hasnt even started on swapping front diff and replacing intake gasket. i just hope to have it going and back to me before we get any bad weather. thats the whole reason i bought it was to...
i am pretty sure they didn't take tube off just slid axle out. i was thinking that washer would be the problem from a video i saw of rebuilding the diff i don't see how you could remove that axle without taking long tube off so that everything would go back right.
they haven't swapped diffs...
dropped off Tahoe at shop today to have front diff swapped.
but. . . when i was pulling up on ramps at my house in yard i could only get one of my rear wheels to spin. before this my G80 would kick in and hardly spin ever. i tried for 5 mins different things and only the passenger wheel would...
