Pace Setter Headers Question! Important!

Really need an answer here. Tomorrow I'm ordering PaceSetter Long Tube Quik-Trip headers. What will the difference be in them just having the black coat of paint on them vs. having the Ceramic ARMOR coating on them!? Will there be a difference in Longevity and performance? I know the Ceramic coating reduces heat. But I mean is it really worth $400 compared to $200?!

Spend the extra money! I wish I would have. The ceramic coating reduces heat, makes them last A LOT longer since they won't rust out like the painted headers, and not that it matters, but they look a lot better. The paint melts right off the non-ceramic coated headers in a week making them look like crap. I love my Pacesetters though. :D

I had pacesetters on my gto.. I stripped them down and coated them with that high temp header coating at vatozone.. lasted forever.. like 2 yrs and still looked good.. Made good power too

Thanks for quick responses guys! Love this forum. Armor coated it is.

Now I need to know, on a 1998 2 door 4x4 LT I have air inj. & EGR (3) right?! Or am i EGR only? Not really sure what the Air Injection is suppose to refer to? I know what EGR is.

So LT headers are gonna be a ***** to mount up. I guess I'm gonna go with some shorty headers. What are the best Shorty headers I can get for my truck (Most Performance)

I ran BBK's coated. on my vette. Got them for like 280 on ls1tech.. worked good.. You will not pick up a lot of power. I dont know what the gains were really. I did all my bolt ons at one time..

Many say don't even bother with shorties...LT are the way to go, a ***** to mount but that's the fun :waytogo:

You most likely don't have air injection since i've only seen it on 99 models.

If you have air injection you would have an air pump where the red circle is. You would also have a tube connected to the front of each of your stock headers.

Ok so maybe the LT will work. And I don't think I have Air Injection but I'll have to see. IF I get the LT Headers from Pace Setter Quik-trips it says it Includes reducer to adapt 3.00 in. collector to 2.50 in. exhaust system. But I have a feeling this is not going to fit? What will I need to make this fit?! XBRANDONX what did you need to make yours fit man!?

Ordered Hedman Shorty headers today. Will get them Wen. With further research I've come to find with my truck I think I'd be better off with Shortys, and would not really notice the difference with LT or shortys. Plus I get them in 2 days and they were 190$ XD I know people. I'll be redoing the exhaust with a single Cherry Bomb Extreme Muffler and I'll be keeping the 2.5" piping. Maybe HI-Performance cats in the future as well? Now when I put in the headers the BBT PCM will be replacing the old pcm. I feel power in the future.

Thanks Bluetahoe I'll check into that. And foreverfalcon40... Yeah really. I mean the difference between the hedman headers and the Stock exhaust manifold is very different and it make the exhaust system a lot less restricted. The difference between Shorties and LT headers in not much really at all on these trucks, besides these engines were made for torque not high end rpm I mean the whole power band dies off at 5000rpm pretty much yuh know?

Atomic your always lookin for a good deal and you usually get one from what I see, and I don't blame you ha. He's in affiliation with these big warehouses in Miami that I guess overstock a lot of products from different companies. Once in awhile he can buys things in bulk for a REALLY good deal and sells them for a good deal. He's local though and unless you live around Sarasota County I don't think he really likes to go to the extent of working out a deal as he does it in Cash only. Another great thing about this dude is he's an automotive braniac and a retired pro racer. Anything from Suspension lifts to what cam to go with etc, hes gonna be a life saver ha.

no, not Headmans! I ran through 3 sets, yes 3 THREE. The collectors kept splittig anf the flange welds sucks. Went with JBA headers and they have been very nice

When the tanks empty tommorow I can fill it with 93 octane, then I'll be putting in the new BBT PCM =D. Then hopefully saturday or monday the headers go on.
