I want to replace the stock boring green illuminated gauge lights to LED clear lights. What kind of bulbs would I need in order to do this - 194? And how many would I need?

I figured they were 194. Thank you for verifying. Does anyone have any pictures of this already done just for example?

JK, can I mail you my 04 gauge dash and pay you to solder in Blue LEDs like you did? :)

The way I look at it is, I am either going to get the Esky Gauge or upgrade mine. And would like to put some cash in JK pocket then some random dude on eBay with a Esky Dash

Same done here with the thanks of many people on here for the ideas .. attached are images showing what I have done to my '02 Tahoe.

First image : 02 Escalade Cluster with Blue 194 LED's
Second image : HVAC LED installation using Blue LED's 5mm 6000mcd Wide Angle w/ 470-ohm 1/2w resistors (Notice also the double-din installation of a Pioneer AVIC-F700BT)
Third image : Ultra Blue 42mm Festoons installed for main lighting (194's in doors and floor)
Fourth image : Ultra White 42mm Festoons installed for Reading and front Map Lights .. also installed into Puddle Lights.

Heads up in regards to the LED installations for HVAC and other areas .. I played around with a few resistors in regards to finding the right ones to use .. originally started with 4.87K-ohm 1/4w, found that the LED's were to dim .. tried 470-ohm 1/4w, made a huge difference from the first ones I tried, much more brighter, but a little limited .. settled with the 470-ohm 1/2w, this proved to be the best where I did not need to modify anything else in regards to sticking chrome tape all over the place to direct the LED's.

Same year/same year is a swap if I remember correctly. Search on ebay for your year truck and there are a few rebuilt ones out there.

damn I have an 03 :( I have a couple lights out. I am fairly good at soldering.. How hard would it be to swap them out and what leds did you use? Also the dimmer switch would be irrelevant with leds right?

Howdy ya'll,

I just bought a 2002 tahoe and jut joined your forum. Anyways, for the leds i went onto superbrightleds.com and am looking at all their stuff. The have a couple of different wled s they have a 1 and a 4. Obviously the 4 is going to be brigter but is it too bright. The other thing i was noticing is that the 1 has a wider angle, would this give the cluster a more uniform lighting?
