Well I am looking into building a really clean/loud stereo in my 2002 yukon.

I am wanting to run 10s, number of 10s im not to sure

My goal is to have a really loud clean system, something with alot of bump, but you can really feel the music and hear everything other then bass.

The idea I have so far:

This is what I would like to run for power and wiring, 200amp alt, 300amp sounds stream batt cell, 0awg power/ground, knukoncept rca's and mostly all wiring.

The amps that I would like to run for the price and performance factor are Hifonics amps. But I am stuck on how many amps I want to run due to how many speakers and subs I want to run. I have the zxi-440 and the bxi-20100 now.

So what I have been looking into for subs are the PPI PCX104 10" dual 4ohm dvc subs, was thinking maybe 4 of them, great price, decent sub. I have heard that they are a good sub but never heard one before. I was also thinking the Diamond Audio D310D4.2, I have the 12"s and the actually sounds pretty decent and hit loud, but not all the notes... So on that not what do you guys think would be a great sounding 10? can still hit the lows, hit the highs ? looking for a sub(s) that can perform alround.

For speakers in the door, I am running Diamond Audio 6" components, they sounds surprisnly good for the price of them. But I am still wanting more. I wouldnt mind running 4 good mid drivers even though I may not hear the mid driver over the subs all that well, but still want something really good in the doors. Also the 1" tweaters, and maybe something like 4 2 1/2 2 ways as well.

I havent found a good deck that I want to run either, been out the audio game for a while and dont really know what is good any more.. I know pioneer is pretty good deck allround.

I am trying to stay away from alpine/pioneer(other then decks), JL, Kicker, and all those really common name brands. Looking to be different.

So if anyone has any ideas let me know! Trying to figure out something without breaking the good ol bank account (i know it wont be cheap)

Thanks in advance.

You looked into the Hifonics Brutus 10" sub? 1000 watts at 4 ohms......Before i got the L7's I was gonna get the Hifonics God Subs. But i have the same amp setup. Puttin mine in as we speak. Not all in one day, just building and adding here and there.....

Ill have to look into them. How are you liking the amps? I only have the 4 chan set up and love how well it sounds. The mono block is still sitting in the box.

I ran a Hifonics Collosus in my truck for some time and they are a good choice in amplifier. Careful with your electrical because the power supplies for Hifonics tend to be current hungry. If you run 2 amps you will want to replace your battery with one better suited for a beating. (Big Yellow-Top or Kinetic)

The Hifonic brand took a rough dip for a few years so if you buy a new amp stick with the BRZ Brutus models. The rail application they used is much more efficient in that amp model. (cleaner power)

If you build you enclosure right you can get away with just one 10" or 12" sub. Look into building a Transmission Line enclosure and I promise you, you will not be disappointed. (plus the box top is flat so you can still lay stuff on top)

Sub - 3 suggestions from my actual ownership
If you want a sub off the beaten path that is flat out nasty look up DC Sound Lab. Just send a request off the site instead of looking into a dealer, the owner still answers email and he is a talented dude. If you like the SQ stick with Level III subs. If your looking to tear yourself up on command lvl 4 & 5 will both do the trick.
Another nice choice would be an Fi audio "Q" sub. Made for SQ quality but give it some power and it will bang hard.
If you are a quality nut look up Sundown Audio. I use other equipment in my comp truck now but hands down the BEST amps. (No BS, I miss them now) and great subs. The SA or Z series sub will be more than enough to satisfy. If you want to be able to pull crazy SPL numbers when you want to crank it go for the Nightshade but they are pretty pricey.

Hope this helps.

first you need to determine how much room you want to use, and do you want sealed or ported. Ported will be peakier around the tuning but will require more space on enclosure. Me, I'd run three sealed 10's firing towards the rear tailgate, and keep the space in the back for what an SUV was intended for :)

I will be going for a sealed inclosure, I am going to see what I can get away with as far as room goes... Im not new to the audio game just been out of the "new school" technoligy...

All I want is: IS to have audio that not to many people know of or use... Everyone around here runs JL, Alpine's, Rockfords, MTX etc... The stuff that TahoeJoe mentioned, Ive never herd of that before, and sounds pretty decent.

Also looking for a solid deck, I know that eclipse used to make some really good decks back in the day, how ever as everyone knows the indusrty isnt were it was at so quality kinda goes down the tubes to save money to build higher quality goods... So I am also looking for a really good deck...

Thanks everyone for the input, I really do apperciate it, as for pics I will post a build once I get a start on it. Wont be for a bit as I just got back to work.

Oh and I will be using B-quiet instead of dynamatt due to pricing and quality. B-quiet is thicker then dynamatt, and easier to lay down IMO

Ill also be planning on running red tops instead of the yellows. If the yellow tops die, you need the optima charger to charge them properly, as for the red tops they will work just fine. 600-1000amp soundstream batt cell should be enough, with a 200amp alt.

careful of lesser known gear, with todays economy, Lord hope you dont have an issue, but you need one strong enough to be around next year ya know?

Anyway, I'd run a Kinetik or XS battery if you can, much better than the red or yellow top for audio.

Yeah for sure I see were your coming from. Im also from Candad, so brands like Hifonics, RE Audio, Adire Audio,etc.. are not as popular as Apline, Pioneer, JL, etc. thats kinda what I am going after!!!

Any ideas on components? I remember CTS is good quality stuff, rather expensive now a days. I want some decent woofers in the doors!!

The setup with the 2 alpine type-r's is soo clean, that is something I am going for. Clean simple, yet still looks classy IMO.

As for the kinetik battry, I would have to buy one from the states I do believe. At least I dont recall seeing them around here. The red top is allright not the best but still decent..

Were can I find built up altnernators?

Thanks again guys.

Best in the business. Powerhouses and great service.

In my opinion I wouldn't try for different when it comes to comps. There are some really nice ones out there that are not well known but in door comps that usually means WOW expensive. I have had Infinity Kappa, Phoenix Gold and Rockford Fosgate between my cars the past few years. Infinity sounds crisp but the woofers leave some to be desired. Phoenix Gold I wasn't impressed with.
The Rockford PUNCH I have now I'm very happy with and here is the nice part. The tweets and woofers both sound great, lower RMS (65watts per side) so you dont need a monster amp and the best part is the integrated crossover. Depending on your skill level with freq adjustment that would take out the guesswork.
The Rockfords come in a few different sets but get the middle (punch series). Prime series dont have the higher quality crossover and the Power series are WOW loud but also very power hungry. (100watts per side)

Hope this helps, let me know if you run into questions. The key is not brand, but the quality that will give you problem free operation for years.

Right on man thanks again!

The only thing, I dont know what it is about rockford... I just dont like them at all... never have never will.. I think I have seen to many problems with their products when I have seen other people used them...

What is something that you would compare to the rockford set up? I am very picky! As I am sure you can tell!! haha. How ever, a guy needs to be to accomplish what he wants!

Currently I am running 2 sets of Diamond Audio D362
6" 120W Component Speaker System

They are actually pretty decent for the price I got them for, and they are running off a Hifonics Brutus zxi-440 4 chan amp. They scream, but looking for more mid bass

Thanks again!!

You might be able to find Kinetik, look at their dealer search on the site, I believe Gem-Sen is the Canada distributor.

I like XS Power for alts.

Right on. Hey if we all loved the same stuff we wouldn't have so much choice for aftermarket. Those Diamond comps do sounds nice, never used but have heard quite a few. Hell you may want to check with diamond to see if they have a "midbass" geared 6.5, lots of companies make them. A few others you may want to check out are Powerbass 4XL 6.5's and Cerwin Vega VMAX. I have heard both of those and they lack a bit in tweet but the door woofers rock pretty nice. I'm sure there is a bunch out there that sound great but i can only suggest what I have heard personally.

1 cheap way you could try and bring the midbass to life is order a few of the speaker cups. Install them inside the doors around the 6.5's and see what kind of difference you get. The cupping will force the speaker to be more accurate and you may hear enough difference with only spending 15 bucks.

I will PM you a few sites where you can find equipment online and save some cash.
