Hello! I have a 2022 Tahoe. Recently, when I start my car and immediately drive, when you are turning say from a street so your making a harder turn, the front wheels or somewhere in that area makes a humming noise sorta like a hmm hmm hmm. I did bring it in for a different reason and they couldn’t replicate the noise. However I’ve since realized it only during a cold start and go, when you’re driving for a bit and turn left or right hard it doesn’t make the noise anymore. Any ideas what it could be? Or ideas to let mechanic know to check. Thanks in advance!

This topic is relevant to my interests. I have a 2021 Suburban with the same issue.

Maybe weak battery (exasperated by the cold weather [please define "cold" for us]).

If 20 Watts of power are needed to crank the wheels stop to stop, and battery voltage is down 10%, you need a corresponding increase in current to accomplish the task...eventually the electrical system will not be able to provide it and you won't be able to do it, but if there is more alternator current available, it may be the alternator whining or something...
Suggest testing your battery and making sure it is fully charged...but this may or may not be the issue.

I started blowing fuses in my boat for my fish-finders as the frist sign my battery was failing...
- 2 fish finders, each rated at 2.4A, 12V.
- Battery voltage was sagging to 11V, and the 5A fuse feeding them started blowing on the regular.
- Replaced the battery and fuse blow events subsided...

Funny how physics works, right?

My 2021 is currently at the dealer. They heard it and felt it but haven’t found the cause yet.

Rear differential clutches. Change the fluid with the GM fluid and drive it 100-300 miles, should improve. Also covered under powertrain warranty.

He said while making a turn, meaning while driving. It will not make the noise hitting still or once the differential warms up.

I have a 21 tahoe and mine is doing the same. Like a rubbing noise when turning when it's cold/first start my car. Any luck with a diagnosis?

must be a T2 thing, I have had front differentials for 25+ years (multiple GM vehicles) and only had 1 make noise when 4wd was "engaged" and moving any direction, regardless of temperature.

Mine still at dealer. They called this am and told me the noise was related to the rear differential - but still digging before giving a full update. Unreal. These trucks are trash.

Front differentials don’t have limited slip clutches.

he said front I am just trying to clarify. Havent had my rear diff make noise either unless there was a problem. I have broke a few of them and worn out the bearings then they make noises.....
I really don't think the clutches are the problem, but I could be wrong. some of the new stuff coming out are going to be e-lockers front & rear
the metal is paper thin anymore so who knows...

I'm pretty sure everyone of ya'lls trucks have remote start that could prevent this. That being said, if 6 members are having that same issue in this recent of a thread, it may be a widespread issue that's TSB worthy. Definitely make your dealers aware of the issue.

Hey man, when you say remote start could prevent this, what do you mean? How so? Mine is remote start capable.

It sounds like everyone is having the issue when embarking immediately following a cold start. You could remote start it 5-10min before leaving and let the engine warm up before driving. If the noise persists, that could help eliminate possible causes.
