Tossed my credit card on top of pile of stuff by phone charger and it slipped in the crack by where the wooden cover folds in.
Anyone know if it is easy to take apart to retrieve it?
Thanks!
Although I understand this was likely resolved long ago, this same thing happened to me with a government issued ID. I used the video posted by
@StephenPT to literally take the console apart (in a winter storm at night), but if this happened to me again, I would do the following with the knowledge of how the cupholder works…
1) Remove the passenger side lower and upper trim panels per the video. To avoid scratching the console, you can move the console to its most rear position(if you have that feature). Otherwise, per the video, have a helper pull the seat bolster away as you jimmy the trim up and out—clips are sharp.
2) Using a flashlight or headlamp, look under the cupholder. You will see a metal tray UNDER the plastic molds for the cupholder. Your card is 99.9% laying in there. Small arms or hands are better, but if you want it, that is where you get it. The hope that banging the console will knock the card off of the tray and onto the carpet is not misplaced, but given what I saw, it would need a lot of luck to jump the tray—especially with the low clearance between the tray and cupholders.
I took everything apart only to realize I could have saved myself a few hours, stress, and some bloody knuckles. Hope this helps the next guy!
