Hello everyone. Figured I'd join the sub ive been lurking at.

Been paying attention to all the ordering posts etc.

I made the leap and placed an order for a 2023 yukon slt frosted pine duramax with premium luxury package , max tow, floor liners, dark walnut and slate interior.

Placed it around sept3 have order number but of course gm hasn't actually accepted it yet.

Based on constraints if i get it before February i will be happy.

Dealer told me expect 3 months which would be amazing.

I will post an update every Thursday to let inquiring minds see the process.

Was in the market for 23 sequoia but mpg, space and hopefully quicker availability pushed me toward the yukon.

Wife is a huge import fan so hopeful GM doesn't disappoint. I used to be a tech years ago so I know what to expect.

Anyways some interesting things so far: haven't seen a real pic or video of a frosted pine yukon lol. I cross referenced some other paint codes and have an idea but still weird.

Picked the lighter interior hope i don't regret it. Just want some more light in there.

I want all the safety and options I picked so I will not be pushing the order until it's perfect. No way im gonna pay almost 80k for no adaptive cruise, memory, or lane assistance.

Also anyone care to share how aggressive the lane keep assist is ? Our toyotas practically drive themselves with lane trace and adaptive crisis. Hoping for it to be similar :)

I know 2024 will be facelift and potentially getting the new diesel I hope I don't regret my 23 but figured could always trade up if needed.

Thanks in advance!!

Welcome! My wait from my original order date is nearly 5 months, and vehicle should be at dealer on the 5th of october which would be 5 months to the day from our original order. It was a 22 that didnt get picked up so, had to reorder in mid june. Hope yours is a fairly smooth process. Just a note, many are still waiting for their 22s to get finished and are at midlothian, so try to stay patient. Its hard to do, as i struggle to wait for mine.

Not to be mr negative but diesel is heavy constraint and max tow is also. I placed order for suburban diesel month ago and I don’t expect it to get picked up. I think I’d rather wait for the 24’ refresh and the new Diesel engine.

Welcome aboard, hope the journey ends well for you.

Frosted Pine shares a paint code with another vehicle - I can’t remember which - maybe the Caddy XT5? If I find it I’ll post it here.

I’m also curious what that color actually looks like - 3D renders on the website are very inaccurate - and I haven’t been able to find that color on a Yukon in the wild.

Edit: OK, dug up the post. Caddy’s Dark Emerald Metallic shares the same paint code as Frosted Pine Metallic.

The CT5-V shows the color in bright light:

Yes I'm aware of the constraints. But it's looking promising. Demand in the whole industry is waning and cars/trucks are starting to pile up at the lots again.

So I remain hopeful. I know my options are on constraint/harder to get but the suv wouldn't fit my needs without the options I requested.

Im really surprised things like adaptive cruise , memory seats, and lane assistance isn't standard across the board for the price. Even civics and corollas come more loaded stock.

I bet we see it standard in 24. It's also crazy that they have a facelift scheduled for 24 when usually the full size suvs stay stagnant for most of its life cycle.

The HD surround vision and lane keep assist are standard on all the Silverado trims now so I’m sure that will happen for suvs too

Welcome to the journey!

Not sure if you already know this but hopefully your order was entered as "Retail Sold SRE" rather than "Retail Stock TRE" so that you get price protection. You never know what additional price increases are coming down the road until your diesel gets picked up. :)

I am in a similar journey. Ordered a 23 Suburban HC in late July with a build date of week 9-26-22. I will watch your progress as well. Good luck.

Well you’re definitely very optimistic. I made an order in May 2021. Order never got picked up for 21 so it rolled over to 22. I decided to double down and I placed four orders with the dealers. I was number one at (4) dealers For over eight months and was not able to get the vehicle built the way that I wanted to. I finally gave in and purchased a used fully loaded with a bit of a markup. But I don’t see it getting better anytime soon. Especially with diesel. You can get gas all day. But if you look at how GMC corporate divvies up that 10% national constraint is equivalent to winning the lotto. So no matter what your dealer says they really don’t know. Nobody really knows . And I learned this from a ridiculous amount of research over the past 18 months. And just for reference I did order the ultimate package, I even tried to build it all a cart. But like you I was not willing to give up any advanced technology package, sunroof, runningboards, Or max tow. The only thing at one time I was willing to give up was the rear media. But that never made a difference anyways

Hey man thank you for sharing. I do understand your frustration. Its all an allocation game. What's on constraint for one dealer may not be on constraint with another. Hence why everyone's real timeline is different.

Even on these forums some people get their optioned truck in a month or two while others wait a year for a base model.

What has me optimistic is the literal downturn of the segment. 0% apr financing is not something always offered especially when interest is at a high. They want the traffic and orders. 0% apr is very very aggressive sales tactics. Most won't qualify but it gets you in.

Another thing that has me optimistic is seeing quicker deliveries overall.

I'm fully prepared to be ok with waiting till February. Now if February rolls around with no end in sight I will probably look at buying a 23 sequoia. If those are impossible then I will just keep waiting.

I refuse to pay marked up prices whether new or used. Makes no sense especially as we head for a major correction and especially not for common mass produced vehicles.

Looking at sales data too the trucks are being made. They are not far from pre pandemic levels so that's also comforting.

Regardless we won't know. And hopefully my documentation here can show others whether on the fence or in the journey themselves another perspective.

Nice color, but I have to say that I like my Redwood Metallic a bit more... Although I am glad GM is starting to loosen their conservative grip on the engineers and playing around with bold and different color combinations. This is a long time in the making.

****10/7/21 update (could be nothing could be something !)****

As we have all heard the rumors of some constraints being lifted OCT 3 and seems to be yukons/tahoe showing up in inventory with options that have not been shipping, I have been looking toward the 3rd with some anticipation.

We all know Thursdays is usually when the magic happens.

I have been asking GM chat every Thursday for an update. Yesterday I was still in the order submitted but not accepted stage.

Today that has changed to : your vehicle order has been accepted by gmc and is working toward the production process.

Sweet!!

I asked for the event code and got: 2030....uh oh this is the GM edited order code....which I've heard tends to happen with the lumbar being changed from 4 to 2 and some other retrofit bs.

Still I remain hopeful that it has been accepted! For those wondering it is a 23 yukon slt diesel with premium luxury (adaptive cruise) , max tow, and floor matts.

I contacted my dealer they said on their end I'm still in the order submitted not accepted stage. Which they did mention could take a little while to show what i was told via chat.

Im trying to keep this a log for those on the fence or in the same journey to compare notes.

I realize my truck has hard to fulfil options. I'm fully prepared to wait until February before I get impatient.

But the news from chat seems encouraging even tho my dealer couldn't verify what they told me.

I will check back in next Friday to either confirm what chat told me or to come and share my disappointment!

Wish me luck ! Have a great day!

That's great news if your order is actually moving forward into production with the diesel and Luxury package. Let us know when you are able to confirm that with the dealer.

I'm curious about your dealer. Is it one of the larger dealers in your area? I assume it must be larger if you were able to get a diesel allocation so quickly.

I too have been contacting the GMC chat bot every Friday to see if there's any updates on my order. Up until today, I've always been able to type in "Order XYZ" and the bot took a few seconds and would reply back with "Your order has been submitted by your dealer, but not yet officially accepted by GM."

Today when I typed in "Order XYZ" it said it was connecting me to an advisor. They confirmed I was asking about a 2023 Yukon XL 4WD order and then after a couple of minutes they said "Your order has been accepted by GMC and is working towards the production process."

I want to be excited, but I'm totally skeptical because I have Duramax and Max Tow on my order. Nobody has confirmed that Max Tow is off constraint and we all know Duramax is extremely low % right now. I really hope for both of us that the GM chat is correct... I'll reach out to my dealer and see what the event code is on their side.

I hope for us it's true! I will say the GM chat that confirmed was an actual person. I checked a little later and another chat person also said the same thing !

Fingers crossed for us both ! When did you place your initial order ?
