So almost done rebuilding thee 4l60 in my 03 tahoe. Got it at 167k and at 183k started making noise so I pulled it. Rear planet and sunshell damage. I believe the 22 inch rims wore my trans out prematurely. I did the transgo HD-2, new sep plate, vette servo, 8 clutch 3-4 setup with BW frictions new seals yadayada. When removing trans I saw a red torque converter not sure if that's stock. Doubt it. What torque converter should I get? Can anybody recommend a tc? Might do some occasional towing if that matters. My 4.8 is stock and going back to 16 inch wheels.

If you are trying to keep it at the stock stall, get the GM replacement or the one I used from Transend, Part # CV-GM92A . I went with this one because the GM one was on national back order at the time.

If you want a higher stall converter than you should probably get a recommendation from a shop based on your engine modifications and intended usage.

Yes it is. I actually found that converter on here when I was looking for one. It has been good so far. No issues with it and they include a prepaid return shipping label for your core to send back to them.
