Hi guys recently bought a Yukon Denali XL on 16th Sep 2021 because of chip shortage inventory around Ontario Canada was surprisingly low like hardly anything available.

Wanted to buy a dark walnut interior only found 1 in Summit white and went for it right away before it got sold as this was only brown interior available in whole ON.

Now Sad part ill be badly missing on Air Ride Suspension / Retractable footsteps / Colour / Rear Infotainment/ 22” inch Black Gloss wheels hence list goes on which is heart breaking but it is what it is.

The question here i feel this Denali more lower on front and high from rear which really isn’t very attractive , dont know if changing it to all 4wd down or UP will fix this balance or not or it will stay like this ? Ill attach 2 pictures for reference. I want its height balanced like the black one which was sadly not for sale.

Can i get air suspension installed by GMC dealership only after purchase ?

Can i get auto retractable footsteps installed by GMC only after purchase ?

Dont want to get it done from private autoshops.

2nd thing as it was only 12 KM driven i dont know I smelled like a burning tire when i came back from test drive of 2/3 KM. Do you think its because the engine & all parts are brand new that after initial use it smells like this or may be if parking break was pressed and i forgot to release it. Just confused picking up today in noon.

i forgot to ask the salesperson if they can smell it as i was excited to get a Dark Walnut interior and made a decision right away in 2 minutes when i saw my preferable interior and i was desperate to buy it. I don’t regret but any advice and suggestions will help me if i smell it again. should i mention before receiving it.

Thanks

Sounds like a pretty nice find. I know my ‘21 Tahoe had a little smell especially when pulling it into the garage to park for the first 500 miles or so.

My assumption is the steps can be purchased as a GMC accessory and installed through your local dealer but I’m not sure on the air ride suspension. I’ll you that in my Tahoe Premiere I only have the magnetic shocks and that’s good enough for me…I certainly would’ve liked the air ride. Course below is a link to the GM Accessories and I don’t see the steps as an option, so maybe then can’t be??? Hopefully someone else chimes in on that.

BTW, Availability on the Yukon is about as bad here in the states. That’s kinda why I ended up with a Tahoe. I think a lot of people on the forum here ended up ordering theirs the way they wanted. I do have the darker brown interior (not sure if that’s the walnut) but it was the only Tahoe within 100 miles back in April that had non-black interior with heads up display.

Hey glad to read your detailed response , Yes i think its a good find considering the availability crises in North America but was so tired of finding and all i was getting black or grey interior which isn’t my choice. So went for the 1st availability since hunt started.
That’s interesting you was looking for Yukon end up buying Tahoe i was looking for Chevrolet High Country Suburban and end up buying Yukon , yes Suburban and Tahoe have a Mocha interior which is lighter shade then Dark Walnut which is available in Yukon but i so love this Mocha colour as the cosnole is also Mocha in Suburban and Tahoe which makes interior room more of brown where in Yukon Console is Dark Ash which is less attractive.

Good to know if i can get steps from Dealership and get them installed from them as well. Will try to search at dealerships or drive it until manufacturing becomes speedy and normal like before and will trade in with full bells and whistles.

As for now everyone was saying it may take another 3/4 months fan go to 5/6 months or may be even more no 1 was sure when they will get new inventory and i was tired of hunting and desperate as well to own it hahahhaa...

When trying to upload images to this Forum, there is a file size limitation that is smaller than many cell phone cameras produce, so you may need to reduce the image file size, in order for it to successfully upload. When applicable, I transfer my cell phone image to my PC's Desktop, and then I use the free app ScreenHunter to take a screen shot of the image, and it delivers a file in the KB size, versus the cell phone's MB size.

The burning plastic smell is normal until broken in. Mine went away in a couple drives actually. Some may take a little longer.

You can go to body shop and add air suspension but it most likely won’t be adaptable.

You can have GMC parts store look up part number for power steps you may need your VIN. Just go to service/parts at local gmc dealership.

You may be able to have your dealership install a small lift to match the back end. I have a 2WD and to me sits level. But holy hell is it hard to get into cargo area as my driveway is a bit inclined. Lol.

I’ve seen one dealership where they do custom work, Dave Sinclair Customs come to think of it…however it’s like a $20,000 type work. but they do chrome delete, different tires, different rims, and they have even installed lifts on Denalis.

If your dealership doesn’t, they may be able to recommend a place that does. But I also would go with the Dealer first to make sure it doesn’t void warranty or anything. It’s just they’re more expensive usually.

For example: GM has a dash cam option that the dealerships can install and the total here (SoCal) is around $600+ for the camera and the install where I could get the camera off Amazon for like $200 but they’re charging like 400-500 for it.

Anyways, good luck! Hope you’re able to find what you need. :)

If it helps you any, I also just bought a Denali. I "settled" for one because I had searched high and low for one that was on a lot somewhere. Mine has the walnut/dark ash interior, and it's just not pretty at all. But......as I said, I wanted a Denali. We drove 12 hours to get home and we too, smelled that burning smell, and unfortunately it took away from the brand new car smell. My husband said it was just the "new" burning off. Funny tho, other Denalis I have owned never had that smell, they were always like fresh new leather :( Maybe we can trade once this chip nightmare is over and get exactly what we want.
