2016 suburban with 97k miles
5.3 with 6 speed and 3.08 gears
We tow our boat and camper couple times a year.
Transmission was service around 80-85k miles

When I take off I feel a hesitation from second to third gear
Also traveling (not towing) 70 mph on highway I feel it also and I see the rpm gauge move slightly

Any ideas?

My experience on older models than yours has been if there is Any tach bounce it is a failing Crank sensor. Please post your results. I'm gonna watch.

sounds like torque converter, unfortunately it cost's about $500-600 to find out for sure. I wouldn't rule anything else out though before jumping into having it checked out. you could get lucky and have it be something simple, you didn't mention if other maintenance has been done at 100k the plugs are wires are due, 02 sensors, flush any other fluids, clean the intake, injector service.

No other 100k miles have been performed.
I have read alot about failed torque converters.
Not sure exactly how common this is.
I guess I will start with plugs and wires.

***UPDATE*** I thought back and this started a couple of days after I filled up. So maybe moisture got in the tank some how.. So I poured a bottle of HEAT in there and filled up with 93 octane and no change.

Actually on my way in to work today I could see the Tach bouncing and hear the engine rev (slightly)
I'm thinking torque converter!!!!
Anyone know how much this will cost?

I changed the plugs and wires and that didn't fix anything.
It started to make a loud vibration noise on the highway.
I dropped it off to the dealer, they did a road test and felt and heard it, then plugged in computer and found no codes.
They wanted me to authorize 1 hour of labor to start taking things apart
Then wanted me to authorize 12 hours to remove and reinstall transmission.

I didn't like either option so I called local transmission shop, he told me they will look at it, but if its the torque converter then it would need an over haul, the torque converter cannot be replaced by itself.
I'm dropping it off this week to them, but it sounds like rebuild vs replace transmission.

Anyone else have issues with there 6 speed?

ya the torque converters are the weak link in the 6 speed, your seems to be a little early but it's not uncommon for the TC to fail after 100k, as long as it hasn't sent metal thru the whole thing it shouldn't be terribly expensive. If your lucky it could just be the TC, bell housing and stator/pump.

I had put this in your other thread but still seems relevant:

I'd get checked out at the dealer for:

PIP5504E: Diagnosing Fishbite Chuggle Misfire Feeling Or Shudder Vibration, With A Light Tip In

If that condition is left untreated it can result in torque converter failure. Failure of the converter clutch can cause issues with the pump, valve body and everything else in the trans as well.

there is nothing to "untreat" except a transmission flush, which may or may not resolve the issue, all that is a diagnostic with a pico scope, better off not even wasting the money and just flush it and see if anything changes. If metal is found in the flush then that's your sign.
