lol im pretty sure the strap just stretched... thats the reason for the adjustable upper clevis to retighten as needed.
ac i think may be over charged, watching ac pressure in the hptuners scanner looks like pressure goes way up and compressor cycles, been messing with best way to run the ac to where it does freeze up the cabin but keeps going to the chiller...kinda pita. defroster on with heat goin to it seems to keep the inside coil dry and keep the compressor cooling the chiller so far, but i think after a while it dont like it



im going to keep an eye on it for now, not having any problems with overheating or anything, did just put the cabin heaters back in the loop possible some trapped air just making its way out ... i'll pull the plugs in another week and see if anything changes. i dont use a thermostat, i had planned on regulating with turning the pump on/off but need diff ecm basically... ive been looking at adding an inline thermostat since its been cold it doesnt like to warm up too much. with the electric pump is does some weird stuff for flow and low pressure/high pressure areas.

Maybe just run a restrictor in place of the thermostat.

You can cut the hoop off a thermostat and take the center out or use a washer or drill whatever size hole you want in a piece of metal and install it instead of the thermostat.

Also if you can get the nose of the truck higher than the rear, like backing into a ditch or a really steep driveway and just let it run for a while, that helps to purge the air out of the cooling system.

You probably already know all of this but just thought I would mention it, if nothing else maybe it will help someone else in the future.

track night:
sucked.

pre-check , coolant overflow. after yesterday i came home re-bleed the thing emptied the "overflow" water bottle. drove to work today (100mile+ round trip) didnt drive it really any different so plenty of wot pulls im sure there was a tiny bit maybe 1/4" in the bottle after work. stopped by friends shop and threw the ac gauges back in it and put a tiny little bit more into it but it seemed to make different cause it worked pretty good all night. stopped by local performance shop and grabbed some VP MS109 fuel to bring the ethanol down but not give up octane. works out that 2.5 gallons and 23 gallons of e85 works out to about E70 to try and stretch fuel system out

1st run, i didnt chill down the intercooler all that great, under estimated how long it would take to chill. that was the best run of the night though. turned the 2 step down a little because it spools up a bit faster. intake temp started about 70, ended like 145* or so, was having doubts about all this work :banghead: spun on the launch but otherwise was a pretty clean run. 10.4xx@134 i think. not bad. also left the small air filter on. was running right on the top edge of where ecm can read, perfect so i didnt touch it. ran down a loud af mustang, that left over a second and a half before me...quite satisfying

2nd run, pulled off the air filter, started chilling it down way early, prob ran it for 30mins. it was down to low 50s, frosties on the manifold...this was gonna be a good one. turned the 2step up a hair just so i could try and cut a decent light against a nitrous 5th gen camaro, he did let me double bulb in so i could grab transbrake just as he lit his 2nd bulb. havent tried cutting light for so long but was all good, jumped out on him pretty good. but was wayyyy too much boost. injector duty cycle was like 110%, cutout at the top of second, made the shift and came back alive soon as i got back in it it cut out again lol, coasted the second 1/8th of the track to an 11.1 at like 90mph but was enough to beat him. cool older guy he asked why i let out. jokingly told him i was just flexing on him. this (half) run the temp barely got above 70* started right round 50*. was pretty much 0-100 run so not bad was feeling better about the chiller.

3rd run i turned the boost down a little bit too much, peak for the run was about 18psi, chiller was on for about 20 mins before run, temps were down to lows 50s, full pull temp got up to 100* at the end of the run more boost it might come up some more but i can live with that for sure. was a clean run, injector duty cycle touched 90% no drama, when i say effortlessly... i mean like it felt like i coulda been checking my phone for half the run. 10.7@132 i think. called it a night.

even with the high duty cycle it seemed like the pumps were keeping up, so im going to bump up the base pressure which should help the injectors out. its right around 60psi, so i'll prob throw another 10psi on the regulator. going to clean out the pre and post filters also, been about a year since they were put on. i turned the boost back up a little.


and the overflow water bottle, didnt squirt another drop into it all night

post track day,
daily needed some new wheel bearings, started swapping those held onto rear spindle or whatever you wanna call it with some external torx headed bolts, i had the socket but bolts were just ate up had a few threads hanging out through the hub and they were rusted up. couldnt hardly get to them, impact with about 24" of extensions didnt want to spin em loose, fought them the whole way out. distorted the heads of about all of them on one side. they go into a little pocket so you cant use regular hardware to replace it. ford dealership had 4 of them so i went and grabbed them so i could get one side done. the other side i tore down and hit with some pb blaster and luckily those came out OK enough to reuse them.

truck:
cranked up the fuel pressure to about 70psi base on the regulator. stock pump runs all the time well below that it was kind of jumping all over but figured was because truck was off and i just had the pump on. Still playing with the idling settings trying to get it to settle down with the ac on, am making some good progress but it has some issues in different scenarios, hot restarts and such. in the stock tune there are some tables that are zero'd out in the truck tune, but in some corvette/ctv tunes they're populated so i stole that data and plugged it in to a few tables to see if it made a difference.
i got sidetracked and started looking into injection timing, what it did, why i needed to mess with it. burned a tune went out for a drive...didnt really notice much difference and found an unsuspecting newer 2017/18 z06 to play with on the back roads. i saw him fly by as i was pulling out of my hood, by the time we got out the back roads he hit a few lights so wasnt far ahead of me but was still cookin along pretty good 75-80mph i paced him pretty far back tho maybe 10-15 cars. came up to a light which held him up pulling out onto a 4 lane. we both turned i steadily pulled out around him to see what he'd do and he gave it the ol' " youre not passing me" down shift, which happens a whole lot faster than mine. by the time i got in boost and started pulling back up beside him we ran up on traffic so both let out. he pulled up beside me with his jaw dropped asking wtf is in that thing :anitoof: yelled at each other cruisin for a min gave a thumbs up and he pulled into his neighborhood, went about my business cruising and data logging. about 15 mins later doing some slow accelerations and it starts coughin and sputtering, figured it was just weird shit with all the unknown new settings i put in it. so i pulled into a little park, reloaded the old tune... started driving back home, did the same thing :banghead:. after freaking out for a few mins realized the time delay relay i put in for the big pump died, was prob going out and didnt like the higher psi even more. got home swapped the relay back to the old ones and all seems ok.

Keep finding those weak links and making them stronger, you’ll be almost bullet proof someday. Love hearing what you’ve done to your rig. Been showing my boys what you’ve done and they are now pestering my wife to let me put a super charger on her Denali. So far it’s been a hard no from her, but we will see. Heck, I finally got her marry me 21 years ago after 6 years of dating so miracles can happen. :D

Been showing my boys what you’ve done and they are now pestering my wife to let me put a super charger on her Denali. So far it’s been a hard no from her, but we will see. Heck, I finally got her marry me 21 years ago after 6 years of dating so miracles can happen. :D

i get that a lot, half the time its the wives saying "oh lets do that to mine as they walk by"


also as far as the sweating goes, didnt get yelled at from the track guys so thats a good thing! i looked under it a few times and nothing was dripping in staging lanes, not too sure about launching though. the recirc pump and all the fittings start to condensate after temp stays down low for a while. i am going to order some more of the rubber cork insulating tape stuff though, it worked pretty good and wrap up the aluminum water fittings in/out of the chiller and in/out of the water box.... over the engine whatever drips is just going to immediately dry up so not to worried about that.

need to order a new turbo blanky also...didnt realize what a good deal i got on the last DEI one i grabbed they like $370 now... i think i paid like 160 for it a couple years ago

ordered new turbo blanket, and also ordered an "exhaust sleeve" to try and put over the downpipe atleast in the engine bay. going to be a little tricky since the wastegate dumps into it - but hoping i can cut the sleeve and install from one side with enough overlap to install it from the other end for pretty much full coverage of it.

another thing i noticed is i havent had any throttle body issues for a while (knock on wood), only real change was cutting the bov spring down some to let it blow off a little sooner. havent had problems for a while even before the much smaller charge pipe so pretty happy with that

Cooked relay, was nice having it delayed off, but relay wasn't up to the task
