It’s Christmas Eve gents. Enjoy the holidays and time with your family, unless you don’t like your family...in that case order Chinese take-out or sushi. I enjoy my family and we are getting sushi together this evening, but it will be eaten in the Denali due to covid regs still in place.

It’s 18 degrees out (-2 realfeel). New B&M deep trans pan installed. New transmission mount installed. Wiring harnesses cleaned up, and heat wrapped along with the starter. New manifold is next.

And for those of you busting balls about my daydreams of a heated shop, remember they are just daydreams right now. Gotta finish paying off this house, Medschool loans, that ruby red MKC I bought her and the 2021 horse show/training bill that will be coming. Once she’s making the big bucks I’ll take everyone out for drinks. You just have to make your way up/over to Michigan.

Happy Holidays...time to get cold again.

Remember back a few months and there was a thread about that door seal that's between the front and back doors that's only installed on the top half of the door and not all the way down and some of us installed some all the way down to help keep out wind/road noise?

I know we kind of wondered why it's not all the way down from the factory. Well I think I may know why.

It's cold here today, 20* this morning with a windchill of 5*. It was 60* here yesterday and the cold front moved in over night. I wasn't parked in the garage and I noticed when I went to run to the hardware store a bit ago the door made that sticking sound when I first opened it. That sound where it's almost frozen shut and sounds like velcro coming apart when being opened. I didn't have any problems opening it, but I could just imagine what it'd be like if there was more moisture, sleet, snow, etc.

I think for the winter months I may swap back to just the factory top half rubber seal

She doesn’t enjoy working with/watching me work on the Denali or whatever other project I’m out in the barn working on (more or less it’s my ocd tendencies she “tolerates”) but that’s ok. She still loves me even if she doesn’t know what a ratchet is. Plus she has horses that keep her busy when she’s not working.
While completely unrelated to nnbs, here’s a video from a couple weeks ago when NBC interviewed her about the new covid vaccine. She was nervous as hell and rightfully so, especially after receiving the “heads-up” phone call from her boss about the interview. By the way, that call she received was the night prior to the interview, which took place first thing the following morning. Some of you may have unknowingly caught the clip. Figured I would share...

Black rubber tubing. Install it inside of the rubber seal. Use some soapy water to help push it through. I’m sure there are some YouTube videos of someone out there doing it. If you guys want I’ll get you the p/n of the stuff I used.

Nah, it's not the main door seals, it's the little seal that goes down the door skin edge of the back door and the front door edge closes onto it. The factory only has it on the top half of the door, between the front/rear door windows and not all the way down the seam of the door. It doesn't keep water out or anything, just wind noise as you drive

we are getting heavy flooding rain overnight and supposed to flash freeze tomorrow night so I am expecting to be fighting frozen doors locks and handles myself. I keep a towel in the truck to wipe down the door jambs and such to help prevent freezing issues. Still you can only do so much. Hate it when it happens.

Keep a few spray bottles of that ice melter handy to spray along the door seams.

Or put some - 20 windshield washer fluid in a spray bottle. Its just the methanol in it that melts the ice.

Man, those crimped radiators have always been problematic with the seeping end tanks. I remember problems with those back in the early 90s. Some shops had a crimp tool and would just re-tighten the crimps on it.

I know what you mean! I'm sure they've improved the design since those days, though. Mine lasted over 200K miles, so I'm fine with replacing it with another stock one.

doesn't this happen every year, lol just go in your kitchen get the non-stick pan spray pam/canola oil, whatever, spray it on a paper towel and rub it on your door seals
