There must be a need or their instructions wouldn’t tell you to install it in a certain direction. And like Wes said, it’s probably so the fogs work without the park lights. I tried jumping the BCM trigger wires but I was going from the headlight relay trigger to the fog lights relay trigger wires and it didn’t work right. I tried it with and without a diode.
I just went out and started my truck. when I turn the fog lights on with it running in park and the headlight switch in auto it turns the fog and running lights on. I can understand having a diode in the right direction so the fogs come on with the running lights because if it's backwards the fogs would not come on with the headlights or park lights. maybe the diode is redundant. would require some testing.

Diode makes sense to power the fogs when parking lamps are on. If you don’t have parking lamps on during the day and you turn the fogs on then you will power the parking lamps.

Technically wouldn’t you need a Y made with diodes to be powered with DRL during the day and parking lamps at night? I haven’t checked if the fogs come on during the day yet. I know they do during remote start but haven’t seen with the key on.

Damn! That is terrible. It seems like it is always the people in the vehicle that was doing the right thing that die in these accidents. Life is unfair.
that freeway is terrible, has a lot of things going bad with it, rolling small hills, slight turns, no room to even pull over and stop, each side has a large ditch, some of the ditches are filled with water, it has 3 bridges that close at random times for boats to pass thru resulting in unexpected stops, HEAVY traffic, only a couple passing lanes.
so if you have to emergency stop your choices are limited, eat a big ditch and maybe flip over, end up in the water-possibly upside down, enter the opposing lane, crash into whoever.

$20 for wire taps and a diode....lol

Don't quite understand how this is different than how I've done it, except it's at the BCM under the dash and not in the fuse box.

Boost Auto Parts even stated in the comments of one of the videos that the fog lights can't be turned off after doing this mod, so don't quite understand the purpose of the diode?

It’s cleaner because it’s not in the fuse box with a wire in plain sight. And you can’t toggle the fogs off just like you can’t toggle them off with the fuse box jumper. If your park lights or headlights are on, your fogs are on. The only way you could toggle them off is to hook the switch to your jumper wire but we want to be able to toggle the fogs ON without park or headlights thus the diode.

Looking at different tail lights. You guys think these go with the U bar style head lights I have? Seems like a lot of red when brakes or signal is on. Also thinking about maybe the 15+ style Yukon tails

Or maybe the smoked ones....

I think they look good, they’re just like the ones I put on my Silverado and I found a matching 3rd brake light.

These are Eagle Eye brand, and use the stock reverse bulb. Do you know if an LED replacement for the reverse bulb can be used and would it cause a problem?

I have a led in my reverse, i ran into a issue with one of them having condensation which causes the socket to rust. Eagle eye pointed fingers at the place i got it from and vice versa. I ckean the rust off so its okay. Im just gonna get another pair with a year warranty then cash in the old pair.

I always suggest running a thin bead of silicone around the inner edge of any aftermarket lens, along with some dialectic grease on the bulb gaskets.
