OEM style HeadUnit

W/ added BlueTooth4B969AFF-CBDF-48DB-903C-EE54231A6ED4.jpegCF58C3BA-FB01-45A8-A0F8-FEBB6D9DE360.jpeg

The new Headunit operates as the original did, with easy BlueTooth interaction.

I was most surprised at how loud the new unit is at only 22watts per channel.
These are supposed to be the original factory specs.

I guess my old OEM radio was just tired after 25years....and a little rusty

Originally, I had removed the original 4x10s

I replaced them with 2x 4" brushless Computer Fans to try to increase rear circulation.
I wired them first to the radio rear speaker lines for power. They worked when I sent current to the speakers.
I tried a few different configurations and power supple, but never helped to the degree I'd hoped.

I removed those fans today, and added some mid level 4x10's.

Since these don't move base anyway, I'm connecting them to a crossover for the Khz range.

I used the
AudioPipe Crossover to split the current:

I have both rear channels running to the Audio IN, combining 22 Watts to 44 @ 4 Ohms.

Then I bridged the the 4x10's to run 4KHz and up.
Then I set the Low Pass for the Subwoofer power @ 20Hz - 3KHz

All run on new 12 gauge wire.

The concept is to enjoy my music, not annoy my neighbors.

Now to run the 8" Passive Sub

My goal is to use the ReStored OEM Headunit, and NO AMP

I'm getting at 44 Watts @ 4 Ohms

I'd be interested to know what kind of sound you get out of that bazooka tube with no amp. I've never seen a good result...even off of a head unit with 50w per channel. I'd recommend even a small amp to get a decent result.

I owned an '85 Pontiac T/A
I bridged a passive 8" tube through the rear 6x9s
I placed it in the rear well and it gave great performance.

On this project, I'm not interested in impressing anyone in the next lane . I want to hear and enjoy my music on road trips. I am looking for this sub to help round out the bottom end.
While not giving up RoadTrip Cargo Space.

Most important, I don't want to cut or change the OEM interior.

It's turned out much better than I was expecting.

My hope was to fill out guitar, drums, and lower mids.
Since the 44 watts @ 4ohms going to the 4x10s were being wasted.

I believe a lot has to do with the new OEM Style headunit. The sound is clear, and the subwoofer punches at the level I wanted.

One surprise was the extra height of loudness I would get with the windows down and rear hatch up. It is noticeable and enjoyable.

I spent the last two days moving the tube around the truck, in spots that don't sacrifice cargo room.

I'm driving with windows closed and also all 3 windows open.
When I find a good spot, I will update with what worked for me, and show the db levels from my phone app meter.
