I am doing a bunch of work on my Yuk..
One of the things that concerns me is the Cooling Fan Assembly
I have read somewhere here ( having trouble doing any successful searches) about
fan blades being 5/7/9 blade with diff combos and the fan motor wattages
My fans are both 7 blade.. But it looks like they've been replaced with aftermarket assembly.
So I'm not sure what would have been the correct set up
I have my RPO codes etc.... It is the 6.2 with all the towing options

Any help or point me how to do a correct search is appreciated

Found some info on GM Parts: 15780793 shows RIGHT 7 Blade
15780794 shows LEFT 9 Blade
With heavy duty cooling and trailer packages...
So, I'm thinkin there's been some tinkering with this SUV.
The fans have seemed to work fine, but I'm putting in a new radiator and my
Edelbrock supercharger, so I want everything to be "right" and working to it's best
capabilities.
What to do ???

mine didn't come with the heavy duty cooling package (K5L) and had only the dual 5 blade fans but I live in California in the central valley and it gets hot here so I wanted to upgrade the fans, a new oem assembly was just stupidly priced so I bought a used 7/9 blade dual 700w assembly out of a hummer, replaced both the motors with new motors and slapped it in and it works fine. I confirmed with the dealer that the relays from a standard 500w and the 700w systems are the same so no other changes were needed, plug-n-play. The aftermarket fan assembly's out there are not dependable (in my opinion from reading lots of reviews). If you are considering doing the same and shop for a oem fan assembly BE-Careful lots of aftermarket ones are sold as oem or equivalent, some will just be offered with the same part number, you have to look at them to find a REAL oem one. used they can be found for a little over $100 such as this one 7/9 blade 700w. these will fit all 07-14 tahoe, suburban, yukon, yukon xl, escalade, avalanche. hybrid may be different, not sure.

How do you know the fan motor wattage???
I did find an aftermarket one on rockauto - only the TYC brand shows
it to be a true 7/9 blade set up.
They also sell a Hayden HP fan motor itself but don't list any specs on it

the oem 7/9 blade (rimmed) fans are 700w, the motors are bigger than the 500w motors and the shroud is thicker yet fitment is the same

I 'see' that there is a fan assembly listed as a "replacement" for the 7/9 blade
but it really is a 7/7 blade...
SPECTRA PREMIUM CF12060 {Click Info Button for Alternate/OEM Part Numbers} Info
For 7 & 9 Blade Fan Assembly
SPECTRA PREMIUM CF12060 {Click Info Button for Alternate/OEM Part Numbers} Info
For 7 & 9 Blade Fan Assembly

So, I suppose this is what the previous owner/body shop must have put in to replace
the original damaged 7/9 blade...
I wonder if my cooling has been affected at all???? I really didn't put it to the test last summer in the heat.. My short towing was at fairly cool fall temps

Twin 7s would introduce weird harmonics that's why they used 7 and 9. Any part numbers on the motors?

I know for sure the 700 watt motors are 15780795 (Left) and 15780596 (Right).

Wes is a good source of info about radiators, some of them are lacking the factory restriction and cause cooling issues.

Stick with OE parts unless you know who their supplier is, there's usually none better.

I have both types of fans. My 09 L9H came with the 5/7 rimmed fans, which I swapped out with a truck that had the K5L RPO code dual 5 blade rimless dual 700w motors.
My 06 Sierra Denali also had the 5/7 rimmed fans, but the passenger side squeaked so I replaced them with TYC brand 7/9 rimmed fans, but I'm not sure of what wattage those motors are.

And this is the TYC 7/9 rimmed

Thanks for the information Mike. My previous research was evidently wrong, I thought the 5-bladed fans were 500 watts only. Updated my files!
