Yep!
That will do it!
Hope you caught before things got too hot.
Do all belts and idlers and tensioners. Pressure test before you do this. If you find a bad water pump you will save the time to take the belts off again. Remember, if you got it hot enough, even if the water pump caused this overheating, you could still have other components in the heating and cooling systems to address. Hopefully not head gaskets. Also, keep in mind, that even if the head gaskets check ok now you could have weakened them and they give you a problem later.
Having no alternator spinning means no electrical power. Plus who knows how long you ran on just the battery before you shut it down.
Does that also include new hoses, belt, thermostat, coolant, etc?Water pump...$600 to fix
Water pump...$600 to fix
Water pump...$600 to fix
$600 is the GM dealer water pump price, reach around not included but available as an add-on for only $6000.
Did you do it yourself?I replaced every pulley, every belt, the water pump and gaskets (all one delco, it the cheap delco) stuff not long ago and it still wasn’t even 400 lol
Damn, y’all ruthless up in here lol. Yes, it was for the water pump, hoses, belt, and antifreeze. I’m at the mercy of my mechanic. I know nothing about cars but thanks for letting me know what should be replaced. I refused the reach around as his hands were greasy
