it's Gone seems like one of the oil tubes got clogged starving it..


changed the oil with some Mobil 1 Annual Protection oil looks like the solvents cleaned up the tube(s

it's quiet now also it stopped burning oil as well None lost 1100 miles on the current oil change
)

On at cold start it was hitting 72-75PSI before it was slight below that 64-68psi.

i'll keep you guys posted if anything changes

just a quick update it's back worse then before, I heard a backfire and clunk noise it definitely came from the engine as it was in park then it started clapping again

the engine was quite audio able from the inside.

Do you have the ability to yank the motor and clean it out and put new rings and bearings in it Brent?

no the place where i live does not allow you to work on it.. you can only check the fluids or change a light bulb.. that is pretty much what you can get away with..(they just don't want oil on the ground that is why and for safety reasons )

i'll let it prime next time by giving it 2 seconds( could have a pressure leak in the fuel pump by pass? overnight?) this happened on my impala (as well as everyone elses) I had to wait a few seconds for it to prime that had a return line this does not have that (internal bypass)

the back fire could have been I started it too fast ( did not let the fuel prime?) the start can crank for upto 30 seconds the RPM shot to 1.5k rpm then settled warm starts it's about 1k rpm few dozen auto stops were fine.1-1.2k...






i put 1200 miles on the oil change have not noticed any loss yet

the pre-priming seemed to help but I got a 420 code today I don't think the Cat is stoned on cat nip,(heated up just fine to 500c) but the positive electrical cable is giving me problems.. the engine was acting like there was a "vacuum" leak i adjusted the cable again that is when i got the stoner cat code a few miles later

my short term fuel trims were +34 on both banks and long term fuel trims were +34 on both banks i noticed there was a lot of grease on the cables this could impede electrical flow as oil is an electrical insulator..

So you have a 2008 Hybrid. How many miles on it?
96k at the moment the problem started at 92k


I just pissed cause it was a malicious act... possibly even damaged the catalytic converter it burned a lot of oil (oil vapor/smoke blow by) I was not the only victim of the shop they screw another guy as well he lost all of the oil in his drive way ( mine happened in July (when the oil change was done)
the other person happened in Dec..

looks like out of Lazyness the person working was not doing his job.


The shop should issue a recall and call everyone to have their vehicle checked to make sure it was done right that had oil changes there

if i'm getting CELs for p0420 on both banks then it's leaking or making extra pollution gases
no EGR


the oil was burnt to a crisp black like it had 10k-15k miles on it
lost approximately 3 quarts low oil psi 40PSI (at 1500 rpm)

that might be with in spec but that is a variable per engine
so it was slurping up oil with air. the aeration is the problem as it does not lubricate as well as just oil..

so this one is normally 55-60PSI at RPM say i.e 1100rpm

Was that right after refueling?

Went 0-23mph in 2.5seconds :Whoa: in auto stop
GM lied it CAN accelerate VERY FAST in auto stop Vid for proof


I think the programming corrupted at lest for the acceleration limit?... normally you can't Accelerate that fast with out turning the ICE on

the blue tint is from the lens protector so it does not get scratched in shipping i forgot to remove it :(

at 16 seconds you can hear the valves :( with a slight knock that is what i hear every time i start it... not before last winter when i bought it at 84k or even at 90k when i had the oil changed, 92k is when a significant amount of oil was lost due to that shop you only have to drop to 4qt then damage can occur..


I changed it at 86k, 90k and 94.5k it's up for another oil change at 99k 4500 miles seems the ideal, then I will have all of it done at 100,000 service(coolant, tras,diff plugs and front brakes) this way everything is brand new fluids :D


I suspect at a minimum there is cam shaft and Drive shaft damage valve lifters and blah blah blah..


do you guys think it would be better to repair this engine (it does not seem to burn oil at the moment but it will because of what happened and the AFM has gone funky)
