Yeah I had 40k into that bike in just parts and the cost of the bike, not including all my labor to build it. And it was all wiped out in a second. The driver of the car was suspended with no insurance, but I fought and got 42k for the bike through my insurance but was out of work for a year and only got 50k in medical and lost wages.

Yeah it sucks when someone takes it all away from you in a matter of seconds.

I considered buying this 'first model year' Harley edition ( yr 2000 ), but I found out the engine had to be removed due to all the rubber ( smog & hoses ) on & around the engine was becoming dried & brittle.
That small V8 is buried under the dash..... Nearly impossible to work around the rear.

( It was in storage for nearly 10 years)

The actual cash value is not much more than a standard version truck with options.
The guy wanted 3-times it's value, due to the badging.

It was a very pretty piece of crap.

That's another thing. Those Harley parts are expensive. You own a Tahoe/Yukon you see expensive parts at the dealer. The mark up on Harley parts has the dealer beat.

Most were aftermarket. I tore almost all the Harley parts off it except the engine and frame. The front wheel (26”) was over $4000 by itself.

WOW! $4000 for one wheel. Without the tire? Just the wheel? If it bolts to a Harley, all the parts can be expensive.
