My rig is a 14 Denali, started it up and pressed the power button the the HVAC controls and the screen was blank, nothing turned on, was just blank.
Being in TX the AC is on all the time, so I turn off the HVAC when I park it and back on when I start it up again.
It's never done this before.

After sitting for over 2 hrs, I started it up and the HVAC powered back on like normal. WTF?

Has anyone had this happen before? Do I have a fuse that's going out? Some software that needs updating?

Probably wearing out the button, why not just leave it on?, it doesn't run when the key is out, turning it on/off every time is unnecessary wear, I live in hot California I basically never turn off the ac from march to november, if you autostart to cool the truck down it needs to still be on when the truck was shut off

That's an interesting thought. I will give that a shot. I had always thought or was let to believe it was harder on the vehicle if you started it with the HVAC on before it warmed up a little.

I don’t subscribe to that theory, with all the electronics in these vehicles now the computer just wont signal the compressor to come on while starting or if there is a too much of a load or a problem.
Years ago it may have been true-ish, but only because the starter had to spin the a/c clutch and may have even put more of a strain on the starter and battery but thats an arguable point. With computers controlling everything now, even if its left on it may not even engage the compressor until the starter is done doing its thing... which is 1/2 a sec. jmo

Agreed. The auto climate control in the Suburban won't spin up the blower for a few seconds after startup, unlike leaving the manual knobs cranked and the electrical load hitting the alternator immediately.
