Dumb question but I drove my other car to work today and don't have access to my manuals. I'm planning to change the oil and filter on my 2018 Denali with the 6.2 this weekend and want to buy what I need on the way home. Can someone please tell me the number of quarts and the type of oil I need to buy? Also, what type filter should I buy? Thanks

Not dumb. Go on GM website for oe stuff or the parts store you’re going to website. They’ll have it ready when you get there usually 6 quarts I use K&N filter and 5w/30 full synthetic or Amsoil but my 6.2 is from the previous model not sure if it changed or where you live needs different weight oil

Your truck takes 8 quarts of 0W20 oil. ACDelco 10-9232/88865553 for 1 Quart Bottles or 10-9148 for the 5 Quart Bottle. If you cannot get your hands on this, see if they have Shell's Rotella Gas Truck, these both have higher viscosity numbers than Mobil 1.

The correct oil filter is the PF63E. Since this filter is made from paper, the fibers can clog up the works of the AFM system over time. I like the K&N HP2011 which is what my truck has been using.

Yes but, more will come than you want. Unless you hold the plug right on the oul pan but you’re probably gonna make a mess..

How much extra? Id pull the filter after its cooled down and let it drain that way and then check level after filter is back in

Edit: I didn’t read your post fully but yeah, do it thru the filter

How did you determine you added too much? Which engine - 5.3 or 6.2?

he should just go to walmart and pick up two 5 qts of mobil1 45$ and $10 for the filter. $55(pls tax)

minus $17 rebate and $12 rebate Net Cost $26(not including sales tax)

but I do suggest getting 4 x5qt and 2 mobil1 filters (basically you get two oil changes for the price of one @ $52)

I bought 2 5qt for $46 steal of a deal as they screwed up and still had a promo that should have been removed last jan 2018 Still up on display in june 2019 LOL

So my oil change will cost $17 after i get my rebate :) :)

Those prices are good but I swore off M1 filters as they dropped my oil pressure by about four or five pounds. It flows about 50% less than K&N and filters 30 microns versus 12 for the same filter. Already wrote about why I switched off of their oil.
