I was looking at the remote start kits and realized I would need a key fob. I do not have one for my PPV, just a regular key.

Is it possible to get a new FOB and program it?

GM#22951509 W/ REMOTE START fob

looks like your vin# is equiped w/ remote start. just need the fob and to unlock the feature to use at the gm dealer. or you can just use the fob w/o remote start

On our 08 Denali I purchased the key fob cover in pink & waterproof yellow, a pink key and a few batteries and another remote on Amazon for about $30.

Had the key cut and followed directions on YouTube to add the key & new fob. The only thing I discovered was that the command to pop the glass did not work. The remote start and all other features were spot on.

Not sure what the cut off is , or if there is one to add a key and remote from Non factory sources on the NNBS. If your successful with your first remote, consider getting the switchblade type key from the Escalade for the rest of your keys.

I’ve really fallen in love w/ the switch blade set up because your pocket has a 9V battery size lump vs a pointy key and fob that catches on my money clip.

So you are saying that if I bought GM#22951509 W/ REMOTE START fob I would not have to buy anything else to have remote start, except maybe a trip to a dealer for programming?

I think i read somewhere switchblade keys wont work in our trucks. I think the handle to put the truck in gear would hit the remote

The switchblade key will work but it’s a dance to push the button in and pull the remote towards you as you shift the handle. I’m speaking from experience...you also have to make sure the key is inserted the correct way, or you will bend the blade when you go to shift the handle into gear. You have to remember this dance at all times, or risk losing a blade

Thanks @915_Tahoe for the knowledge he’s provided in this thread and in conversation. Not only increased my knowledge about an option available on my Tahoe, but has saved me money in the process! Guys like him make this forum great!
