I did notice that there is a 10 speed how hard is that

can you be more specific of what the problem is and what exactly you trying to accomplish? what makes you think you have 8-10k? we need a better description of the entire scenario
specifically what is wrong with the engine and what is wrong with the transmission? what makes you think they need to be replaced versus repaired?

The 6.2 in your truck is hard to beat and the swap to an 8 speed trans would be tough. I’ve got the same rig and they’re hard to beat. What are the symptoms, miles, etc?

8 to 10k bucks

200k miles
Lifter problem in the engine
I feel like the transmission is going because it shifts really hard between 40 and 50 miles per hour
Smoke all the time like a blue cloud
And some other minor things
First time ever having a vehicle over 200,000 miles and I feel like this engine is tired because and doesn't get up like it used to
Also it eat oil like crazy

What do you mean it's hard to beat and Tuff on a 8-speed

JMO, $5,500 6.2 crate engine and $3,500 6L80E and down the road you go. Is 400 hp enough?

You've got the best set up going. Now if you don't want to rebuild, just get a new crate engine and transmission from GM. Then decide if you want to add horsepower and or just a good tune.

How would the computer recognize the extra 2 gears and different shift points? Agreed though if you want all new stuff go GM crate with a warranty.
